We are very excited to be putting on a new play with local roots this autumn. ‘A Lunedale Odyssey: Megan’s Story’, written by Peter Lathan and Castle Players founder member Helen Brown, is set in 2008, with modern-day teenager Megan being central to the story, while based on events that happened in Peter Lathan’s great grandmother’s life, who lived at Lane Head Farm in Lunedale. As Helen Brown says, it’s a “true story, wrapped up in a modern-day storyline – a mix of fiction, mythology, and real historical events.”

Intrigued? Have a read of the fabulous recent article featured in the Teesdale Mercury to find out more and make sure you come along to the first reading of the play on Monday, June 22nd, at Startforth Community Centre. All are welcome! You’ll get a chance to meet the director, Laurence Sach, and find out about ways you could be involved.

Don't miss YOUR LAST CHANCE to see Ladies' Day — this Saturday, 21 February at 7.30pm at The Georgian Theatre Royal.

Swap the winter blues for fizz and fascinators and escape the winter chill for a glorious summer day at the races.

Let Amanda Whittington’s much-loved play whisk you from the cold, repetitive grind of factory life to the colour, fizz and excitement of Royal Ascot, at York. Come follow fish-filleting friends — Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda — as they swap white coats, wellies and hairnets for dresses, heels and flamboyant fascinators. With champagne flowing and bets placed, the women confront long-held secrets, big dreams and a friendship-testing accumulator that could change everything.

Warm-hearted, funny and deeply relatable, the play balances laugh-out-loud moments with genuine tenderness, celebrating friendship, resilience and the thrill of stepping outside the everyday.
