Well, nine whole years has passed since Escape 1st aired on channel 4

For me, it was a chance to see what the outside world thought of our adventure in the Sonoran desert, Mexico.

It was insanely hot, exhausting and genuinely tough both mentally and physically.
But what an adventure.

I met the most incredible people along the way both my fellow survivors and the team behind it all! I would go through it all again with you all in a heartbeat!

It was filmed exactly 6 months after the loss of my Elsie and I believe it to be a great part of my healing process.

It is raw and genuine. Although maybe a little unfair on some of the characters at times.

And not to forget Ant Middleton for being a little legend... sorry for calling you a donkey mate, appreciate you not lamping me there and then 🤣

This time last year I was enjoying a dip in the Adriatic sea to ease the butt cheeks after an epic ride across France, Monaco, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.

The mission was to see the world's oldest surviving wooden wheel in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
At around 5,200 years old, it's almost as far back in history from Tutencamun than he was from us! How crazy is that?

The wheel has been so well preserved, tool marks are still visible, the quality of the work is very clear to see.

Made from ash boards and oak dovetail rail, it is testament to the skills of the workers of the period.

What an adventure that was!

Next stop is Armenia! Can't wait!

9 years ago today we made our last push with the horses on Elsie's Journey.
It's still so hard to believe what we achieved.

Can you see it???
The atraction that it?
Maybe there's something to be said about the old ways?

Chair bodgers would turn their legs in the woods, leaving their chippings and wood waste behind for nature to reclaim.

That's no wasted energy hauling all the waste out too, no massive machines churning up the ground like we have today.

Just genuine, low impact production.

Plus, who wouldn't want to live in a bodgers hovel in the woods? How in touch with nature this craft was.

I'm always proud of my little ones and how they can rough it when we're on our adventures.

They adapt, learn and cope so well... even if they do moan and repeatedly question things sometimes.

Bea is 7 and very confident and capable round the campfire. Ted is 5 and getting to grips with using the polelathe. Adaline is just the sweetest child and is happy eating and helping.

Bringing children up to be confident, capable amd safe is my goal. I'm grateful of the early learning they've had through forest school.
