We are getting our July/August Sessions lined up. 😎😎😎

If you don't know us 👋

What is Messy Mornings?
At Messy Mornings, we encourage our little messers to lead us on a journey of colour and creativity.
We are not scared to get the paint out and let it flow!
In our sessions, children and their families explore art together, using different mediums and techniques to make their mark on the world in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.

The "Why" Behind the Mess
Messy Mornings was inspired by the simple, powerful idea that all children are artists and that creativity is a language all of its own.
In a world that can feel restrictive, we've created a space that nurtures "alternative thinking" and celebrates every child's unique way of expressing their brilliant ideas.

What to Expect:
Freedom to Explore: We provide the inspiration and materials, but we love to see our wee messers follow their own creative instincts.

Family Fun: We love seeing parents and caregivers get stuck in and create alongside their little ones.

Process Over Product: The goal isn't a perfect masterpiece; it's the joy and development found in the creative journey.

The Best Part: We handle ALL of the clean-up, so you can focus on having fun.

Who is it for?
Our core "Messy Mornings" sessions are designed for children aged 0-5 and their accompanying adults.
We can't wait to see you and your little artist for some creative, messy fun!

We know as parents that life just gets messy !

"Mad May" came a little early for me this year and life got a little too messy, even for me.
I have taken some unexpected time off and remembering the biggest( and original) messer in my life.
I’m taking May to find my creative feet again, but I can’t wait to see all my fellow 'wee messers' in June.

From Cave Walls to High Fives: Why We Make Our Mark ✋✨
I was listening to Mel Robbins on Dr Chatterjee recently talking about her "High 5" approach to beating procrastination and boosting self-worth.

It got me thinking about the Messy Mornings logo.
That handprint isn't just a cute graphic; it’s a tribute to the messy, painty handprints and footprints our little artists leave behind in every workshop. It’s the simplest, most honest form of expression.

In the documentary ”A brief history of Graffitti” Dr Richard Clay speaks about ancient cave paintings—those muddy handprints found on stone walls from thousands of years ago.....the very first "calling cards." 🖐️

Before there were alphabets or textbooks, humans used mud and pigment to say one thing: "I WAS HERE."

In every session we see that, that urge hasn't changed. When your toddler plunges their hands into a tray of paint and slaps it onto paper (or the floor!), they aren't just making a mess.
They are:
Finding their voice before they have the words.
Taking control of their environment.
Making their mark on the world for the very first time.

As a mum to a dyslexic daughter, I’ve seen firsthand that "alternative thinking" is a superpower. Sometimes, the most creative, innovative thoughts don’t come from a neat line of text—they come from the "scattered," messy, colorful process of doing.
So, the next time you see a painty handprint on your sleeve or a "muddy calling card" in the garden. Give yourself (and your little artist) a high five.
You’re not just cleaning up a mess. You’re nurturing a storyteller, a problem-solver, and a dreamer.

Join us at our next session at Boom Studios, Bangor, and let your little one make their mark!

👇 What’s the most "creative" place you’ve found a handprint lately? Tell us in the comments!

A Place to Belong 💙🎨

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week, and the theme for 2026 is 'This is My Place'.

As a mum and afounder of Messy Mornings, I’m a huge advocate for using art to support little minds. While I’m not a mental health expert, I see every day how creative play gives children a "place" to express themselves when they don’t yet have the words.
We love messy art for mental wellbeing because it’s helps to ….

Create Confidence: Making their own choices builds independence.

Encourages Expression: Using colour and texture lets them "talk" about their feelings.

It’s a Safe Space: In our sessions, there is no right or wrong—just the joy of the journey.

Creating Connection: Making a mess together creates a sense of belonging for the whole family.

Let’s celebrate the "alternative thinkers" and the dreamers this week. Let’s give them the space to make their mark on the world! 🌍✨

Help Shape the Future of Pickie Funpark! 🦢✨

We all know that Pickie Funpark is the heart of outdoor play in Bangor. Whether it’s splash pad fun or a ride on the Pickie Puffer, it’s the perfect follow-up to our creative sessions at Boom Studios

ardsandnorthdownboroughcouncil is progressing with the proposed redevelopment ofpickiefunpark as part of the Bangor Waterfront project. This is a huge opportunity to upgrade the park, and as parents of young children, your voice is the most important one!
The Council is currently in the "Pre-Application Community Consultation" phase. This means they want to hear from you before any final plans are submitted. We want to ensure the new Pickie is just as inclusive, sensory-friendly, and fun as a Messy Mornings session!
Join the Public Drop-In Event:
• When: Saturday 17 January, 10:30am – 4:00pm
• Where: Bangor Carnegie Library
• Who: Everyone is welcome!
This is your chance to view the proposals and provide feedback to ensure our kids have the best possible place to play for years to come.
For more details on the plans, visit: Ards and North Down Council Website
Let’s help shape the future of our waterfront together. See you there!
