Research Collaboration Opportunity for Sex-workers
**Trigger Warning: s*xual violence in s*x work**
Dear Pole Community,
Some of you who know me, may know that I am an academic at Bangor University. My primary research interest is to find out how people who are victim-survivors of s*xual violence may use language. Previously, I have looked at specific characteristics of language to understand how people decide whether a testimony seems credible, and what information is often needed before we make decisions that we believe someone.
Today, I am posting to ask for help on a new, but related project. I am looking to connect and collaborate on a research project that involves s*x work and s*x workers.
The idea is this:
I am looking for s*x workers with experiences of non-consensual contact at work.
The work can be in-person/contact work, or online such as OnlyFans/Telegram etc.
The interview and the research will be based around the exploration of s*xual and other types of violence faced by s*x workers, with the aim to eventually inform policy and professional training on what is best practice.
If you would like to collaborate, there are two ways:
I would like active partners (2-3 persons) to ‘co-produce’ the research questions. That is, you would be working with me from the outset to create questions for interview and exploration that you believe are pertinent to you through personal experience or through friends/colleagues you know. We would be applying for a research grant, and you would be actively involved in contributing to what questions we study, how we interpret the data, and how we design further research. Any outputs (publications, training courses, CPD courses) would credit you and you could then be as involved as you like.
Second, you can contribute by being interviewed as a participant. If a grant is awarded, I will be looking for interview participants in the latter half of this year.
If you are a s*x worker (past or present with 1 year or more in the industry), would like to develop a project with significant input to make a difference please contact me via email at [email protected], or send me a message here on Facebook
