More of those Dam fine times and Dam good people. It’s been so many years since I’ve been to Amsterdam and there was no better an occasion that Letterheads 2026 organised by Amsterdam Signpainters (who nailed it!)

I wasnt gonna repeat the love i have for this movement, this community, this bunch of nerds but maf they deswrve it 🤣 they’re fukn class!

Most of my profile is about sharing the work i’ve created, along with some thoughts about life etc; occasionally i celebrate the people which have had a big impact on me. Individually there have been many who’ve made a difference and i will have more praises to sing for deserving peeps yet, but now is for the nerds, the Letterheads! They’ve made me feel so welcome since my first event Norwich Letterheads just after covid times they looked after me after a life changing loss on the way to LETTERHEADS 50 in Cincinatti last year.

I went along to my first meet knowing no-one but already familiar with the work of so many and I was humbled by how nice they all were 😭 So quick to share their enthusiasm for lettering, their skills, lessons learnt and encouragement of peers (newbies or pros). The Letterheads have been such a part of my journey, I’m grateful to you all!

Amsterdam Letterheads 2026, gyatt Dam!

I will never stop going on about how blessed i feel to have found this life, this craft & this community. How rare it is to have such a talented, genuinely lovely bunch of letter nerds from all corners of the world that gather yearly to share skills, stories, do workshops, break bread and party. Over 200 letter lovers from over 20 countries in a sick venue with all the good times you could ask for. Blessed i tell ya.

Am splitting this into a few posts (as i have done before) because there are too many pics to share, this post is in thanks to all the beautiful souls I’ve met (and continue to meet) on this journey; it’s genuinely ace to see you all and sorry there aren’t pics of every single one of you! The friendships I’ve made since becoming a signwriter are truly special and I value each time we meet!

This has been my signature from the beginning, it’s changed a little, but not a lot.

I often get asked where my name comes from. It started around 42 years ago when my little sister was starting to speak, some of the last letters to get pronounced were t’s and s’s, so in the be beginning Tomos was momo (both o’s sounding like they do in Tom). We kinda forgot about it until 25yrs or so later when she had children and they both did the same; they’ve called me Momo ever since.

When I first crated this IG account after deciding this was going to be my path i couldnt think of anything else except this and I cant see me ever changing it!

I do enjoy playing with my signature, sometimes making it small or subtle, sometimes much more obvious. As I’ve gotten better I’ve played around a little more. I place it on almost everything (where appropriate) i make/paint as I’m proud of what i create, a lot of love and effort goes into every piece of work. I cant see that changing either.

Bucking the trend of trying to catch up on posting work from last year…here’s one from this yr!

The design is from a cool old to***co advert (pictured in the last image) from an ace book which i tweaked a little for devout lover of the black stuff

A LOT of processes and techniques went into painting this 🙈 building up the layers, background blends, pictorials and of course some pumped up lettering.

I have some of the most fun painting things like this and I’ll absolutely be doing more…i love it! Pieces that are involved, time consuming and detailed. If you’d like to commission something nuts, drop me an email; it wont be cheap but at least it’ll take ages 😉

A lil golden one from early last yr. I often feel so fortunate to be doing the job i do, getting to leave behind little hand made sparkles in pretty little places. In this case the sparkles were left on this beautiful curved transom, above the entrance to a beautiful victorian building in Llanduno.

Gold leaf isnt always the best choice; in the wrong location it can almost disappear entirely (be it oil or a mirror gild) but in the right place…oh in the right place boy it can shine! This doorway was perfect for it, south facing it catching the sun aaaalllll day long…shame the sun didnt wanna shine for me when I took pics at the end of the day 🤣 Lovely cheers

Some of the funnest things to paint in recent times have been lil birthday cards for my peeps, If you’re my peeps and you’ve not had one yet, Momo does love you; life gets outta hand sometimes huh 🫣

I love painting these because there’s no brief, they’re loose and I do what takes my fancy. Card stock’s also really nice to paint on.

Last year I completed one of my biggest sign projects to date for Ty Gwyn, Betws Y Coed.

I was asked to make traditional signs which celebrated this 16th century coaching inn I was able combine some of my favourite lettering styles with traditional methods/materials and some carpentry.

Handmade Welsh Oak frame (the biggest i will likely make in honesty, at nearly 8’x4’ this thing’s HEAVY!), oak topped swing signs with pictorials, 23.5ct gold leaf throughout from and a gable end mural. I love statement projects like this, along with their exterior refresh the signs have completely changed the feel of the building!

Not long after putting up the new sign for i was contacted by the lovely owners of Caffi Colwyn asking if I could make them a sign just like it, so i did ☺️

Am slowly catching up on posting past jobs, still quite a few to go 🙈

If you havent been to Caffi Colwyn in Beddgelert, go give it a visit, it’s lovely! They have a wicked outdoor space too.

Failure’s part of our journey, there’s no way around it. I have messed up so many times, so many projects, so many downward spirals (adhd lessons can feel sooo heavy) but each and every one has been another lesson learnt. Valuable information gained. Some f**k ups i’ve even made more than once, if a lesson’s worth learning it’s worth learning twice right?

Don’t be afraid, f**k up often! Use it as fuel to f**k up again.
