Next week at the Barn | SOUP!

Saturday 5 September @ 11.30am
https://thebarnarts.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/shows/1173676254

Get the whole family together for SOUP! - an interactive, inter-generational dance show, full of clowning chefs, communal cooking and the sharing of recipes- with a wholesome dash of culinary, messy play!

SOUP! was inspired by the tastes and smells of the artists’ grandparents’ kitchens and a desire to bring people together through food. It’s about the importance of sensory memory and ancestral recipe legacy as much as it is about whimsy and creative freedom.

It takes the form of a live performance by two dancing chefs whose unusual cooking style, featuring clowning antics and nonsense language, leads to some hilarious kitchen mishaps and acrobatics. All the while, the audience choose the ingredients and a unique pot of soup is made to share.

This inter-generational conversation will inspire and have you giggling and enjoying cooking together.

Introducing our new lead artist for our upcoming Illuminate Together project - Phoebe McBride!

Inspired by light, nature and community, Illuminate Together brings local people of all ages together through creativity. Working with schools and community groups, the Barn will bring creative sessions to local people, where together we’ll build original lanterns using reclaimed, repurposed and natural materials.

Following an open call to find our Lead Artist for the project, we're delighted to announce that Phoebe McBride will be leading the project. Phoebe is an Aberdeen-based visual artist and community creative practitioner.

“I’m excited about bringing people together through creativity and for all of the conversations that will happen around the making. Moving with the seasons into the shorter days and longer nights, community becomes more important than ever. It’ll be a really great way to share all of the small things that light us up during hard times.” - Phoebe McBride

To read more about the project and about Phoebe, head to our journal on our new website!
