Catch report - week ending 14.6.26. A cracking Rod Average 10.92

Season Total Stocking to Date: 12,100

The rains have continued throughout
this week๐ŸŒง

Unfortunately the weathers not been too kind this week with it being rather wet and damp with constantly changing winds but anglers doing well once they found cover, Sunday was the best with temperature reaching mid 20s. The rains have slightly raised the water level again but fish still sitting in that 2-5ft range.

The main basin is still producing fish along the far bank once the wind dies down and you find some calmer water same as ladybower bay if the wind blows into it, under the trees have been excellent for dry fly especially. Additionally the washing line method has been producing with an orange fab on point and a variety of buzzers underneath.

black daddys are still doing very well. Some have found a smaller, trimmed down body is preferred currently similar to a hawthorn fly. Be sure to pick some up next time you're visiting in the coming weeks! ๐ŸฆŸ๐ŸŽฃ

Bit of a drab start to June! ๐ŸŒง

Unfortunately the weather took a vice like grip on the past week with some rather out of character downpours for the time of year. This has held the water levels stable for a week or so but as we all know a lot of water coming in, in a short space of time is never nice for the fishing.

It did however help the surface temperature out. After the heatwaves it crept up to 19 degrees, we now sit consistently lower than that and back in the comfortable feeding range for trout. We always gauge the activity when feeding the cages to get a feel for how comfortable the trout are at the surface and right now they are properly on the munch! We simply can't feed them enough!
So with that knowledge its just a case of finding those actively feeding fish now. ๐ŸŸ

The main basin across open water continues to fish well to dries with the dam wall often providing shelter from the wind. Other areas to look out for a when a wind is coming off a tree-lined bank or down it. Over the past month or so now fish have been feeding tight to these banks where the occasional terrestrial has dropped in or the hatches have been more prolific.

On the fly front a good starting bet for Ladybower has always been a black daddy. This can replicate a number of food items for the fish and creates a brilliant silhouette which trout can pick out easily. Be sure to have some in your armoury if your visiting in the next weeks! ๐ŸฆŸ๐ŸŽฃ

Over 1,100 fish were introduced on Friday to help stir the residents up, amongst these were a good helping of blue trout which we know you all love ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Scores were improving drastically as Sunday came around. Steve Cullen and Tim Trapp netted a cricket score (50/60) on black daddies and various other dries. Again under the trees proving key ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ well in gents ๐ŸŽฃ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Another impressive tally on Sunday came to Rob Crawford and Howard Smith. Together they put together a bag of over 30 fish noting that a pulled midge tip and bo***es was the way forward for them ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Catch report - week ending 31.5.26. Rod Average 9.3

Season Total Stocking to Date: 11,000

Still a mega rod average had by you guys over the past week! Where the fishing took only a slight dip for a day or so in the extreme heat of the week before this last week its certainly recovered well ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Fish still remained high in the water and now dries is pretty much the go to method for most from the off. Daddies, hoppers, cdc and all the other usual picks are good choices but it does pay well to have black or at least dark flies on your cast it seems.

That said fish are still pulling back on the nasty stuff. FABs and bo***es teamed up with floaters, tips or on the slightly windier days a slow or fast glass.

This Week has also seen hatches or mayfly and Heather fly and the trout certainly know about it. Although not yet in full swing, its good to see mayfly dancing around. These have been anywhere from a lightish olive through to a pale yellow in colour. We expect, weather dependant, that a better hatch will be seen over this coming week so keep your eyes peeled ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘€

In other news, we've been hard at work preparing 3 brand new cages for our fish rearing program this week! These will be on the water, nets deployed and fish filled very shortly ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thursday saw us host the annual meeting of the English Fly Fishing Association and The Bowlanders.
An incredible day was had out on the water with only 12 out of 40 not reaching there limit of 12 fish! The EFFA came out on top with a very respectful rod average of 11.5! Incredible fishing, well done all involved ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐ŸŽฃ

It's not just trout that the cages are rearing on, here's a shoal of resident roach that are using some nets left in the water to good effect for spawning.

It's nice to see the wild population of coarse fish thriving in our water ๐ŸŸ
