Balmoral Castle, Scotland
Beautifully framed by , this embroidery is of part of Balmoral Castle and Estate in the Scottish Highlands, Royal Deeside.
My trip turned from fantastic to wonderful when Adam pointed out the field of Highland Cows to the front of the castle. Beautiful things.
Again, the embroidery features weaving, French knots, an abundance of colours...and can you spot the cow's field...?
I keep getting asked.
I have spent a lot of time thinking about what I would like to do post-PhD. I see many people celebrating with elaborate trips, or breaks from work. It is stressful. It is not me.
What would I like to do? Well I would love a future career in teaching. How possible that is, or what availability there will be after my studies, I don't yet know. Working in practice is going to take a little more encouragement and thought. I had a great experience in practice, but right now, I am not sure if it is the route I would like to take to see out 2025. Of course if the right thing were to come along, I would absolutely consider it.
But I would like my future to continue in the design studio.
For now.
That being said, what I am certain I would like to do after my studies is a modest trip to Scotland again. It beats a sunny beach for me. The fragility of the landscape and the connectedness to the outdoors is what I crave.
To feel so small is wonderful.
My thoughts may change once more between this embroidery and the next.
