October 1st is National Black Dog Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging the adoption of black dogs, which are often overlooked in shelters due to various misconceptions. The day combats "Black Dog Syndrome," which attributes longer stays and higher euthanasia rates for black dogs.
