“For nearly 26 years, I have dedicated my career to mastering and honing a craft that is has gained worldwide recognition. Alongside my work as a portrait specialist, I have built an award-winning tattoo business gaining over 20+ awards including: Best of Show multiple times, numerous awards in Best Portrait as well as the award winning recognition for dot work, ornamental, small colour and black & grey; all of which have lead to being renowned for artistic excellence, technical precision, and commitment to creating exceptional, bespoke work for every client. This extensive career has provided the foundation for me to direct my focus on fine art, allowing me to expand my creative practice and explore new forms of artistic expression. My particular character development in my artwork is explored through iconography and a sense of memorabilia, using carefully selected images that together suggest a personal or imagined narrative. Through my artwork I able to create symbolic imagery encouraging the viewer to interpret the story behind the character, while objects associated with memory create emotional depth and a connection to the past.
Each image I chose is to establish a strong point of interest, drawing the viewer's attention before inviting them to explore the surrounding details and uncover the layers of meaning within the composition. The artworks are created using tools ranging from gravity fed airbrushes to draftsman's pencils, including glass erasers on clayboard: all mediums that allows for exceptionally smooth tonal transitions and fine detail. The clayboard surface enhances the precision of the airbrushed imagery, producing a refined, almost photographic quality that strengthens the symbolic storytelling and reinforces the character's identity and narrative. I also extend my medium across to universally recognised signage, implementing the nostalgic naivety that played a role in the storytelling tales of my youth. These evoke fond memories from an earlier stage of life in my collectors, through the use of creative designs, sentimental relevance and enamel paintwork."
