Dracarys - Props, Miniatures, Costume & Re-enactment

Dracarys - Props, Miniatures, Costume & Re-enactment Miniature painting service specialising in Medieval, Saxon, Viking, Norman, Crusades, Fantasy, LOTR, etc...
Terrain building and sculpting/customisation.

I also offer services involving prop making, costuming and historical re-enactment. Dracarys Props is primarily a miniature painting service, as well as providing custom built terrain, basing, miniature sculpting and conversions. I also build props and costumes for both the cosplay, collector and historical re-enactment communities. I offer both my own completely bespoke work, and will also help w

ith any modification and customisation, please contact me with your project ideas. This page acts as a portfolio of previous projects for both my own hobbies and customer commissions. I offer two standards of miniature painting depending on your budget:
Wargames Standard: these are simple, though very neatly painted. Featuring basecoat, midtone and highlight, basic shading, simple shield designs and basing which includes a painted ground texture and static grass, sand or snow. Collector/Display Standard: as above but including multiple stage highlights and shading, more complex shield options and basing with extends to multiple foliage types and seasonal effects. Please see the photo albums for both types of painting standard. Both standards have the option of Matt or Gloss varnish finish. I can also prep your miniature before painting, which includes assembly, the flashing and mould lines cleaning up and magnetic strips can be added to bases. So you have the option of sending me your miniatures in their 'just bought' state. I also make clothing and textile pieces for Anglo-Saxon and viking Re-enactment, and am a member of Regia Anglorum. Authenticity is paramount in my work, and the appropriate research goes into every design and item I produce. I specialise in embroidery, and can make fully hand-sewn garments or add period and region-specific embellishment to an existing garment, banners, embroidered scenes (ala Bayeux Tapestry), leatherwork and tooling. I am also a member of the 501st and Rebel Legion and can offer my services to cosplay of any kind. I will help with the prep and finish of 3d printed kits you may have, though do not have the facilities to produce 3D printed or vac formed parts myself. Please be aware that my day job is Senior Prop Painter at RS Prop Masters, and so any commissions that may be seen as a conflict of interest, I would respectfully direct you over to RS. For example if you purchased RS products and wanted me to paint/finish/assemble privately, I would suggest instead you do so through RS itself. Please see my photo albums for all the different types of work I can produce. No job is too large or too small, feel free to PM me for quotes and other details and we can talk through your specific needs. :) I accept payment via PayPal. Thanks for taking a look!

I realised I never shared the ogre for Mike's 49'ers themed Bloodbowl team. Apparently they have gained some kind of notoriety for their detail, specifically in the 'ass highlights'.
So here is the Ogre, packing as much goddamned cake as the rest of his team. Lawd dem ass cheeks clappin'

Hi all, I've decided to reopen a few slots for miniature painting commissions.
If you're interested please drop me a message and we can discuss your project. Or if you know anyone else, I would very much appreciate it if you could spread the message and share this post or a link to my page.
Thanks ♥

Tonight in the paint chat- I converted a medieval figure to look more 11thC, he came with one of the carts I bought years ago from Perry miniatures, but I hadn't had any use for him. Now he fits right in, and will be accompanied by a pony (holding the trappings, hence the arm posed that way).
His hat was filed down into a cap, tunic lengthened, sleeve tailored for a more in-period fit, and a cloak added. Because cloaks are just cool and fun to sculpt. :)

Tonight's painting :) a unit of skeletons finished and based. Just a quick series of dry brushing and washes on these, they were so delicate that even removing flash and mould lines wasn't always possible. I enjoyed making the shields look ruined, I got a pack of metal shields from GB and went at them with pliers. Posing them was fun too, (with glue for the many casualties that arose from bending them a little too ambitiously) and with the basing hopefully distracting from any sins, they look cool en masse. I think the Ebob skeletons are likely meant to be just for scatter terrain, but I really like the look of them.
Finished a bunch of Anglo-Saxon tents that had been lying around for a while, I'd like to make some cool encampment style bases for them.
Started work on this frost giant's torso. I had meant to film this, either as a time-lapse or livestream, but I don't know entertaining that would really be, lol, and I just kind of got started.

Great session with the paint chat group tonight ♥ I had every intention of calling it a night at 11:30, but then noticed her and just needed to finish her (almost). She's my second ever miniature sculpt, I based her on my Skyrim character. It gives me an excuse to go and play Skyrim to grab some comparison pics. Yeah that's a flower crown, she likes to look nice, ok? :p
She's almost done, just needs some Skyrim-esque basing, and her Shield of Ysgramor finishing off (painting that seperately) but I'm definitely going to bed now! 😴

Legion Stormtrooper:
Began with primer white, washed thinly with a mix of bone white and nuln oil, black undersuit painted, several thin layers of brilliant white with the darker colour left showing in the recesses, then details on the helmet added.

Four down, four to go. I'll varnish and base them all together.

Got a bit more done on the first snowie last night. Just needs his blaster finishing, matt varnish and the snow base.
I'm not sure what colour I want to do the base, I normally go for black but like the idea of a grey. Not sure if it will look a little washed out or not though.
