A very interesting post from Annie Norris 🫶

I’m a little nervous posting this, because I know there can be strong opinions around it. So I want to be really clear from the start.

I am not anti conditioning or cross training. They can be incredibly valuable tools when your goals and training style call for them.

But I’m deeply passionate about pole remaining a hobby, a safe space and a place of expression for many people.

Not everyone has the time, energy, finances or desire to train multiple times a week and then add extra conditioning on top. And that does not make them any less of a pole dancer.

You are valid if you train once a week. You are valid if pole is your one hour away from the real world. You are valid if you’re here to move, feel, express and breathe.

If you’re training frequently, chasing big strength skills and pushing your physical limits, then yes cross training is absolutely imperative to support that journey.

But if you simply want to pole because it fills your cup, that is enough too.

I started pole because I was shy, socially anxious and just needed a way to move my body. If I’d been told I also needed to go to the gym or do extra workouts at home, I honestly would have quit before I ever found my confidence.

I just want people to understand the difference and to know they get to choose what pole looks like for them.
