I am so thrilled to announce that this beautiful exhibition will be visiting Little House of Victoria.

Small Beginnings, Great Expectations, and The Lost Jackets - An exhibition of stitched textiles.

Curtains to Couture was originally an Instagram account created in October 2024 by five friends aiming to spread their message of sustainability and to “save the world, one curtain at a time”. In just a year and a half they managed to gain a strong following of many thousands of like minded stitchers and creatives on Instagram extending all around the world.

In 2025, five became seven, and they are now a committed group of talented textile artists with a wide range of skills who are always keen to involve others in collaborative stitching projects.

The Lost Jackets, as featured in Embroidery magazine, are 10 unwanted and worn out school jackets that had been donated to charity, yet heading to landfill due to their poor condition. The jackets were saved and reinvented by ten textile artists, creating a visually stunning collection with an important and relevant message.

Small Beginnings, Great Expectations is an exploration in stitch, of memories and emotions sparked by a collection of much loved, but no longer wanted, precious baby and toddler clothes. Seventy women have taken part in this project, producing a varied, beautiful, and unique collection that is both thought provoking and poignant.

These are two very different projects that complement each other well, yet both reflecting the creativity and skills of many like minded women. The projects highlight the importance of saving garments from landfill, by reinventing them and thus giving them a new life.

There will be a programme of workshops around the exhibition, please join my newsletter to be kept updated.

Thank you to and for organising the trip
to Mossley.
