It is with great sadness, that the death of a former Secretary of Dukinfield AODS, Anne Emmerson is recorded.

Prior to her joining the former Dukinfield AODS, Anne had gained a wealth of experience as both a principal player and also in administration with a number of societies in the Manchester area. In November 1975, she played her first role for Dukinfield, namely the Countess Vera Lemainken in ‘King’s Rhapsody’. During rehearsals for that show, she was sometimes referred to as “Big Vera”, a name which stuck and was used with affection, of course! Over the years, she played many roles for DAODS, combined with her official roles as Assistant Secretary from 1979 and Secretary from 1981 to 2009.

In 1978, Anne was appointed Secretary of the newly formed Friends of Tameside Theatre, and in 1989, she was elected Regional Representative of the No.9 NODA North-West region. This entrusted her with the care of some twenty-five societies, a position which she held until 1991.

Upon stepping down as Secretary of DAODS, Anne was made a Life Member in 2009, culminating in life membership of Theatre Arts of Dukinfield and Ashton, following the amalgamation of both DAODS and Ashton OS in 2024.
