What an inspiring day exploring the power of creative health! 💪

Our CEO Paul Hine recently joined Creative Manchester’s Creative Health Research Symposium at The University of Manchester, sharing how creative practice can help create a world where lived experience drives change in health and social care.

Lived experience helps us understand what services really feel like to navigate. It reveals barriers, challenges assumptions and helps us design support that works for real lives.

But people need the right conditions to share their experiences. Creative health creates new ways for people to participate, connect and be heard.

Through co-created audio, film and immersive workshops, we help bring lived experience to life - allowing people to step into someone else’s world and see things from a different perspective.

We were delighted to be part of such an important conversation about how creativity can help transform the way we listen, learn and create change.

We were delighted to be back with local community group Dipak Dristi for a creative workshop focused on wellbeing. It was part of our Cultivating Creative Citizens work, supported by Action Together through the Robin Estill Fund.

Together we used drama, storytelling and music-making to share ideas, connect, and support one another. There was plenty of laughter, creativity, and moments of connection throughout the session. What a lovely reminder of what creativity can do - build confidence, spark joy, and bring people together.

⚽ What makes the perfect football match day?

For our award-winning kids' podcast Armchair Adventures, we worked alongside our community creatives to bring the excitement of match day to life through sound, imagination and storytelling.

From the roar of the crowd to the chants, songs and sea of scarves, every detail was inspired by the experiences and ideas shared by the people who helped create it.

Last week we spent time with healthcare professionals at the Doctors in Deprivation Training Day in Greater Manchester, hosted by Shared Health Foundation and Deep End GM.

We shared 'Jasper Pickles Climbs Everest' – an immersive audio story designed to help people step into someone else’s experience of healthcare. Jasper is a character co-created with people with learning disabilities and autistic people from MacIntyre, drawing on many lived experiences to shape one shared story.

As people followed Jasper’s journey, it opened up really thoughtful conversations about what helps care feel more personal, consistent and supportive – and the small changes we can make that make a big difference.

That’s what co-produced storytelling does best: it helps people experience something together, reflect together, and see things a little differently.

Thanks to everyone who took part and brought so much care and openness to the day 💛

What have we learned from six seasons of making an intergenerational podcast?

In this lovely conversation with Sounds Like Impact, our Artistic Director Andy Smith joins Ayo Oti and Vic Elizabeth Turnbull from MIC Media to reflect on the journey of Armchair Adventures and how audio can bring people together in meaningful ways.

A big theme is co-creation - and what happens when children and older people create stories side by side. It builds connection, confidence and empathy, and shows the power of audio to spark imagination and conversation across generations.

It was great to have such a thoughtful chat about creativity, community and the impact of real voices in storytelling. You can listen to the full discussion here: https://f.mtr.cool/myufniryno

We're heading to the Doctors in Deprivation Training Day: Find Your Tribe 2026 tomorrow, hosted by Shared Health Foundation and Deep End GM! We’re really looking forward to being back with this brilliant community of clinicians - here’s a throwback photo from last year when we joined the event.

This time, we’ll be presenting 'Jasper Pickles Climbs Everest', an immersive learning workshop exploring the health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities. The workshop uses an audio story co-produced with people with lived experience, alongside reflection and discussion to help deepen understanding of the barriers people face when accessing healthcare. Together, we’ll explore what needs to change to create more inclusive and equitable services.

What a lovely afternoon at our Johnny Barlow Theatre Company Open Day! 🎭✨

We had the chance to share a little of what makes the group so special, from drama games and creative activities to some of the amazing work members have helped create.

Visitors got a glimpse of everything from fun Armchair Adventures episodes with an educational twist, to character-led stories and case studies inspired by lived experience and designed to help create positive change.

And of course, there was plenty of laughter during a game of Human Bingo, with members of Hearts & Minds joining in the fun too! 💛

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, got involved and helped make it such a warm, welcoming day.
