Super busy night last night at skating, almost at capacity again as all of our friends started returning from their holidays. 🌞

We had a few newbies too for out Newbie hall of fame.

First we had Mitchell and Ada who had been encouraged to come along by their family and friends who had already skated with us before and recommended that it was a really good fun night out.🌟
Mitchell had Ice skated more recently but the last time he rollerskated was when he was 5 years old and so skating on quads took some getting used to.
Ada is only 5 and has never skated but has ice skated and the techniques and balance learned from that was obviously a transferable skill.
Both dad and daughter really Enjoyed it and will definitely come back.⭐️

Next we had Rachel who came along with Kat and her family. Rachel last skated when she was a kid so it brought back lovely childhood memories.🌟

All of our Newbies did extremely well and were full of smiles all night and we can’t wait to welcome them back again in the very near future.

As the kids start to go back to school this week, we wish them all a smooth transition into their new classes and lots of fun and new adventures. 🧑‍🎓👨‍🎓

If the trend of the busier sessions continues into the coming weeks, may we suggest that if you know you need a ticket, that you ensure you book in advance to avoid disappointment.🎟️🛼

It might not have been the busiest night ever at skating, but you were all fantastic tonight! There was a very competitive 11-and-under Countdown, and another competitive 12-and-over Countdown (you did well without the sweets bribery!) We enjoyed the dramatic stop with the aid of the wall but don't worry, it was the darker end of the hall and nobody saw...

Plenty of action with the limbo pole, some new faces in the first Fast'n'furious and an entertaining battle in the second! Darcy was in the pack tonight rather than chasing and there was a bit of a tussle at the end 🤣

Congratulations to Jupiter, 18 today and she chose to spend her evening skating with us, Happy Birthday Jupiter! 🎂

And a final shout-out to Maiya, who took on Jane's role of "gentle encouragement" to join the games, ran the games and might just have caught Darcy...

Games for adults and kids and sweets for the kids every week.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff and skaters who will always go out of their way help beginners and people wanting to learn new skills.
If you need to hire skates, we have mainly quads and a few pairs of blades so please stipulate when booking.

Another fabulous Friday night had with our friends at Skaters Club Ashington

Lots of battles in the games, lots of hilarity from our resident comedian Alex who was sporting his new “Golden Boots” this week from Hexham car boot sale!! Very flash they were too!! 😂
Harrison cleared epic heights on the limbo pole (he definitely went higher when the camera was not on him). 🤩
Brogan drew and coloured in pictures to hand out to everyone, well done Brogan, a lot of effort went into those pictures. 👩‍🎨

We had 2 Newbies on Friday.
First we had Matthew who Ice skated 24 years ago but has never rollerskated.
Decided to join the kids today who have been with us for ages now and on his first time he joined in with Corners and Bulldog.
He says he had a great time and will definitely be back.⭐️

Next we had Jessica who is 11 years old.
Jessica has Skated at Gutterball and also at her friend Alex’s party at the Parks.
She say that she loved our session and will definitely be coming again, potentially bringing her brother too.
It was fantastic that on her very first time with us, she joined in with all of the games.🌟
Well done to both of our Newbies and we can’t wait to welcome you back again.🏆

I was speaking to one of our regulars on Friday who had tried other skating venues and said that they have decided to just stick with us now. I asked what made us different from the rest and they said that the staff interaction and atmosphere and games were much better and they also mentioned that the inclusive environment where people with different abilities and disabilities feel at home and included made our session stand out.
We are very proud of this at Skaters Club Ashington as we count you all as our friends and we work so hard to keep you safe but also entertained every Friday night, but, we wouldn’t have the atmosphere that we do without all of the interaction from all of you cheering each other on and helping each other out with tips and advice for Newbies from our experienced skaters. You are all amazing. 🥰

I absolutely loved tonight, I was totally buzzing all night. You are all such amazing company and I can honestly say that you make me smile so much. 🥰

Such an action packed night too with almost 100% participation in the games. You all rock. 🤩

We played the fastest game of Corners in history where our incredible picker Freddie managed to get everyone out and find us a winner in just 2 picks! Wow!
Well after that, we managed to have plenty of time to do 2 games of Bulldog which was so much fun, one kid’s speed session and a 12 and over countdown followed by a mixed game of Fast n Furious! See I told you it was an action packed night! But as I have said before, when you are playing the games, you are learning agility and balance without overthinking it and we can see how much you are coming along every week so well done to you all. 🏆

We also had a few newbies tonight.
First we had Serina who is 12 years old.
She has skated once in April at Gutterball but this is the first time in a large hall with games too.
Serina was brought along by our very own Bella who has been with us ever since she could walk so it’s lovely when she introduces her friends to our session. She did very well and even joined in with our speed session.
Serina has said she would love to come again. ⭐️

Next we had Gracie who is 10 years old, she has skated at home but not for a year and also at a recent skate party hosted by her friend. Today Gracie joined in with our Speed session
Gracie came with Fern who is also 10 and came to skate with us once when she was 8 years old. Gracie also joined in with our Speed session. Both of them were smiling and laughing all night and both have said that they definitely want to come back again very soon. 🌟

And lastly, at very long last we managed to convince Ethan to join us on wheels. This absolutely made my night and he did sooooo well. Just half a lap of the hall and he was skating with what looked like ease, regardless of how it felt to him. ⭐️✨

Well done to all of our Newbies tonight, you were all amazing and did a fantastic job.🎉🛼🥇

We also had 3 very special birthday boys and girl in tonight. Every one of them are part of our close skating family so it was great that we managed to get them all together on one night.
First we had Steven who was 49 last Saturday but unfortunately he’d had a few too many sherbets to make it along last week! 🤪
Next we had our very own beautiful Darcy who turns 19 tomorrow.
Then lastly we had the ever entertaining Lee whose birthday is on Sunday.
We would like to wish all of our birthday kids a very Happy Birthday from all of your friends at Skaters Club Ashington. 🎂🎉🎈🎁

Another fabulous night with all of our friends at Skaters club Ashington and despite entering the Summer holidays we still managed to get a good turn out. 😊

I am super proud that in my absence the bullying… ahem, sorry, encouragement continued and that so many of you joined in with the games again. We are a great team and are all determined to gently nudge you all out of your comfort zone to allow you experience the fun of being a kid regardless of your age. 😂

This week we had 3 Newbies for our Newbie Hall of Fame.
First we had Heidi who was encouraged to come by her friend Frances who has been skated with us for a while now. ⭐️
Heidi did really well tonight and I am sure we will see her again in the near future because she was looking like she was having lots of fun despite Frances‘s Dad trying to sabotage her progress at the end by wiping her her out! 😂

Next we had Gary who has been to our session for such a long time now with his twins Joshua and Jessica, but this week he decided that the kids had had enough of the fun and he decided together a piece of the action and he was so glad he did.
Although he didn‘t play any games this week, I’m sure that will come on his next skating session. 🤞🌟

Lastly we had little Caitlin who is only 6 years old. She has come along and watched her brother Isaac and his friend Lochy skate for a while and wanted to give it a try tonight because she had had her skates for a while to, but never tried them out. Just one look at that little face shows that she was having the best time and I‘m sure that we will see her again very soon. 🌟

Well done to all of our Newbies tonight, you were all amazing and can’t wait to welcome you back again in the near future. 🏆

In other news, we had some brilliant battles in Fast n Furious again and Jax won the kids session, and the adult one ended up with cones flying and the epic finale where both Darcy and Lee refused to give up and tried to take each other down at the end.🤭

Adult Countdown was very successful with many of the skaters still in at the end and we won’t mention Lee‘s elegant exit from the game! 🤫

And a final note, it was wonderful to welcome Nick and Emma back tonight, you’ve both been a big miss but I know you’ve both been having fabulous adventures.🥰

How much fun did we have tonight? Everyone tonight was so into the games, especially Bulldog, of which we played 3 rounds! It really helps to challenge your balance and turning ability because you are doing it without overthinking it. Thank you so much to Victoria for the photos and videos, you are a star ⭐️ .
We also had a brilliant game of fast n furious whereby we combined the adults and kids for both players and chasers. The kid chasers started first and got pretty much all of the kids out (and incredibly a few adults too) but then I came in and took out Felix leaving Bella, Jupiter and Lee for Maiya to sweep up which she did in grand style, even if she did catch Lee whilst he was showboating going backwards! A win is a win! 😂

We had one Newbie in tonight for our Newbie Hall of Fame.
Ryan is one of the Dad spectators and he felt that he “needed to get on skates tonight to help the kids”… 🤔🤭😂
Anyhoo, Ryan last Skated around 20 years ago but he skated on blades at the time so it was a bit of a learning curve to swap onto quads tonight.
He played Bulldog but he was a little too nervous to play fast n furious this time around.
Tried to recreate some tricks tonight which I would imagine would have felt very different on blades but he had lots of fun and definitely wants to come back when work commitments allow him.🌟

In other news, I want to give a big shout out Ashton who is making a real effort in joining in with extra games (with no bullying from me) and this is increasing his skating skills immensely. 🏆

I know lots of you are starting to take your summer holidays, and lots of you are even away this week. Well wherever you are all jetting off to, we hope you have safe travels and can’t wait to hear about all of your adventures. 🌞✈️

Incredibly sorry for the late post however sometimes life gets in the way but hey, the summer holidays will soon be upon us so we will have a lot more down time and time to relax. 🥴

Last Friday was fantastic again. The weather was a bit cooler so allowed people to skate more comfortably.
We also went back to our usual games of speed session for the kids and countdown for the 12 and overs. I love the nice cool breeze you get as a spectacular whilst the skaters and wizzing past! 💨

We had an abundance of Newbies for our Newbie Hall of fame.
First we had Rachel who last skated a month ago at skate island but before that it was 30 years ago that she skated when she was a child.
Rachel said she very much loved the session but it but hurt shins so in my humble opinion, that means she needs to come back often so that she can fully relax on skates.
She said she will definitely come back but it will have to be on the rare occasions when she’s not at work. ⭐️

Next we had Aoife who is 11 years old.
Aoife has skated in the street and in a bar in Birmingham (who are we to judge?! 😜😂).
It turned out that Aoife is one of our regular’s “very close friend”, and somehow Jacob (our regular)saw fit to wait 6 whole months to bring her along!! Tsk! What is that about? I’m sure I would have been on my best behaviour if he’d brought her along earlier?! (OK, maybe not!! 😂)
She was an excellent and fast skater and joined in all of our games.
Had good time and wants to come again so Jacob had better bring her along or I’ll send the brute squad round!! Haha. 🌟

Next we had Matthew who is 12 years old.
He has never roller-skatedbefore but has ice skated once.
Matthew didnt join in with any games this week but I’m sure he will when he comes back.
Again, it turned out that Matthew had been a boyfriend to our other regular and long term outside friend, and yet it took Katherine 11 months to bring Matthew (her boyfriend) to meet us?!
Matthew had a good time and wants to come again and in fact, so does his Mum so I’m sure we will get to meet her in the not too distant future.✨

And lastly we had Megan who is 10 years old. She is the sister of Sophie who was previously in hall of fame.
As it transpired, we were in fact a last resort when all other plans fell through but she was so happy she came because she got to watch mum trip over for the last 10 mins of the session! 😂
Megan has only Skated at the back of the house so did incredibly well for a first time indoors.
Megan came with Mum Gemma who last skated in her teens around streets.
She had an amazing time and got the chance to be a kid again. ⭐️

All of our Newbies had a brilliant time and I hope to see you all again on Friday. 🏆

In other news, Luca and Grace were last ones standing in kids Fast n furious after a mighty battle and Lee somehow managed to get his foot stuck in one of the cones and made a less than graceful, but highly entertaining, exit from the game! 😂

Hopefully after this week life will slow back down to slightly less than a million miles an hour because I can’t actually believe that we are already over half way through the year already. 🤞How did that happen?! 🤔

Wow that rain, thunder and lightning on Friday night was unreal and yet you all still made it out to see us. You are all amazing. 🥰🏆

It was so wonderful to get back into our hall although we did have the other side running likes well oiled machine by the end, it’s still much easier for us in the big hall.

As it was still quite a quiet night in terms of skater numbers we stuck with bulldog for those that never experienced it in the other halls and whilst it is popular, it is also a bit of a Marmite game so well maybe alternate between games so that everyone can be happy.
Whilst playing bulldog though, everyone was very respectful again and so no dangerous encounters and it was still funny. 😂

A massive spider tried to join the game too but Graeme was the brave soul who ejected it this week.🕷️😱

Fast n furious was an almighty battle though. It seems like the people with 3 wheel blades are dominating the traditional 4 wheeled blades but in the 12 and overs where Oliver went up against Darcy and she had half a lap to make up on him. The cheering for both of them was immense. 🌟
Darcy did catch him though but massive respect to them both, especially as the hall was stifling and no one could breathe very efficiently. 🏆

Lots of impressive jumps and ducks with the limbo pole. Young are all getting more confident by the week. 🥇
