24 years ago today – 13 July 2002.

I still find it hard to put into words what it felt like to be there.

My friend Helen, her sister Debs and I casually walked down from their flat in Hove to Brighton, thinking it would be an easy stroll along the beach. We’d been to see Fatboy Slim the year before, so we had no idea what was waiting for us.

When we arrived, we were absolutely stunned. There weren’t just thousands of people – there were hundreds of thousands. The atmosphere was unbelievable.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m not one for being stuck in the middle of huge crowds! So, in true “me” fashion, I came up with what seemed like a brilliant idea at the time…

“Let’s crawl under the stage!”

The three of us squeezed underneath, emerged on the other side, dived into the crowd, slipped past security and somehow managed to make it to all our friends at Point N.

I’ll never forget the moment Praise You came on. The energy on the beach was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. The whole crowd moved as one, and Fatboy Slim created a moment that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

It taught me one very important lesson too: always get there early, because you never know when you’re about to witness history.

I can’t believe that incredible day was 24 years ago. It was truly epic, full of unforgettable memories, amazing friends, and one of the greatest live music experiences I’ve ever had.

And yes… I’m still very glad I decided to crawl under that stage! ❤️🎶🏖️
