A touch late posting ..... but here's a throwback to a couple of weeks ago working with Arun District Council for their "Elements Reawaken" show in Bognor Regis.

ADC approached us to design, create and deploy an educational immersive audio visual experience: covering the creation and evolution of the universe as we know it over a 10 minute show period, with an exciting finale to show off all the toys.

This was a hugely labour intensive project, with story design, narration, custom audio soundtracks / effects and a comprehensive Video / Laser / Lighting / SFX show all meticulously pre-programmed and synchronised to run via LTC from the main show computer.

Pre-programming the show in this way allowed us to demonstrate the show's lighting and video in advance with the client, ensuring we were hitting the complicated brief correctly - and a thoughtfully designed PA ensured we kept the sound in the show area and out the (many) surrounding neighbours gardens.

Achieving immersion in a HUGE outdoor space isn't an easy task, but by utilising features around the site, a staggered series of video walls, lighting deployed in, around and the edges of the audience as well as some haze and other SFX meant you forgot you were in a park in the audience area.

Creating SFX that trigger alongside audio cues such as lighting & explosions which followed the story really added to the story and immersion, and flamethrower / laser SFX added the extra wow factor for the audience.

PA was the least exciting part .... 2 x 96HO, 2 x SM80 and 6 x TH118XL in a 2:1 cardioid array.

This project is a good example of the work CCA Events LLP has spent the last couple of years building and doing - which is bringing our large network of event professionals under one roof for projects like this.

The Website is currently under re-design, and it's exciting to start releasing the new company vision with everyone.

Another year completed providing audio production for the Corpus Christi procession in Arundel for Cathederal.

A rather different job for us that sees us utilising our skills in public address systems to cover a procession route which is approximately 1 mile long, requiring reliable and constant coverage of the speeches, choir and organ happening during the mass and service in the cathedral.

Everything happening in the Cathederal is mic'd, mixed and then distributed via a mixture of 100v and Danley Sound Labs equipment along the entire route through to the castle's quadrangle and back to the cathedral.

This is achieved using a mixture of wireless transmission from Shure and some 100v conversion boxes further down the route alongside a series of mixers to control distribution in specific areas.

In total we deploy well over a mile of 100v and collectively almost 2.5 miles of cabling between power, signal and speaker cable.

Fantastic work from barber and payne to make the gig happen in 30c heat.

Exciting news!

Pleased to announce that Barber has formally joined CCA Events LLP as a partner.

I've been working with JJ in one form or another for the best part of a decade now.

2 years ago a tragic family event meant that i had to immediately get up and go to Newcastle overnight, 3 days before a festival, 8 hours before prep. JJ told me not to worry, took over and single handedly walked into a warehouse with a half prepped gig and two vans and pulled the whole thing together to perfection, ensuring it was built and ready for me to takeover on the morning the festival opened.

Since then, we've discussed working together more formally and i'm glad we've finally found a way to make it work.

He's also been a key part of working with us since we got onboard with Danley Sound Labs, fascinated by the technology, and has always used CCA as his preferred supplier for all things noise related.

Bringing JJ onboard solidifies our expansion into doing much more event production as a turnkey service. His exceptional skill set in lighting, staging, rigging, power, plant and many other areas compliments all the areas that although I often manage, do not work within. Combined with our ever growing network of companies we work closely with for staging, video and lighting this brings a new strength to the company, that i'm excited to pursue. New website incoming!

Excited for this years festival season, and an exciting new start with more strength to the business!

Back from 10 days touring the Netherlands with Will And The People supplying audio FOH and stage package alongside engineering the show.

Had a lot of fun and a lot of compliments with this one. Having worked with these guys for the best part of a decade, it was nice to get back together as a big family and spend valuable time doing what we all love, together.

Nice to get a recording session at the brilliant IJland Studio in the middle with Tim on the faders, and to spend some time in Amsterdam for the second time in 6 weeks.

The geeky stuff;

8 channels of Universal Audio via an apollo, used as analogue inserts giving me ALOT of toys in my lovely new SA Touring rack. Neve pres, distressors, la76 and reverbs programmed for each track, alongside a tasty master bus on my 1/r mix using Oxfords plugins.

A VERY maxed out ALLEN & HEATH SQ6 providing 5 x monitor mixes, 3 stereo IEM mixes, sends to my outboard fx and alllll the plugins for some lovely toys. 2 X DX168 for 32/16 i/o stage end and USB recording at 96khz.

A tasty mic package, and a lovely space echo pedal at foh for vocal fun.

Massive shout out to all the wonderful venues we visited, but especially big shout to P60 for the most welcoming, knowledgeable and hospitable venue l've ever worked in.

We've moved! (Well, started .....)

2025 see's our base of operations move to Market Harborough up in the midlands.

We've still got kit on the south coast, but our larger stuff is being kept at our new premises now we focus more on larger event production, touring and installs.

Why you ask? Partly because it's a much better location geographically for lots of the work we're now doing, partly because it avoids the m25 ....... but also because it's closer to family, friends and contacts in the area - which is great during the downtime between events and when we need extra assistance on events.

Happy new year to clients, customers, suppliers and friends.

Thanks to those who trusted us with your event production, projects and shows - and those who had me along on your own gigs and shows throughout the year.

2025 will see some business and structure changes as I go at this solo (well, possibly - some partnership discussions are in progress) but i'll dig into that during January.

Wonderful weekend at Brighton Electric recording with 's relish. Great to catch up with friends from across the pond in Poland again and make some more great memories, and great music.

It's been 5 years since we worked together, but we got straight to it and managed to capture a magical session. Recording a band like this live is always a challenge I enjoy, and something i've spent much of my career working on.

Visiting for my first time, i found Brighton Electric to be such an incredible place. The staff, from engineers to bar staff were lovely, accommodating, knowledgable and helpful. They even let us (and helped us) move to the bigger studio 1 on the second day to help with getting the larger sound I was looking for.

Both studios are wonderfully equipped and the atmosphere was rather unique and lively. Being able to use a huge array of vintage kit was fantastic, and often forgotten about in modern recording.

Another week, another set of happy clients.

We had 4 Danley Sound Labs SM80's and TH118XL's out for Arundel Castle's 2024 joust for the week, with all the wireless handled from Sennheiser's DX series and the playback master Tom Payne on controls for the week with our SQ6.

It's an impressive show which sees jousting competitors from around the world gather in the beautiful castle grounds for a week of jousting.

Last weekend we headed down to Dorset for Stompin on the Quomps with Stagelightsound.com using our SH96HO's, 2 x BC415 and a J3 for rear fill to tackle a challenging site with limits of 85dba at FOH and 65dba off site at the NSP's.

The use of point source with thoughtful design allowed us to keep the dance floor pumping and the 100m or so rear area covered without getting any complaints from local residents.

Thanks Josh Grizz for being on the controls for that one, and Re-Production for the extra gear since we were all out.

Finally recovered after another year at the wonderful Wilkswood Reggae Festival 2024 - a gig I've been working at for (06?) years, initially as a monitor engineer and for the last 2 years have ran the entire audio production for.

This festival has been my audio playground and happy place, and I put EVERYTHING into this one event each year because we love being their so much. It's one big family of 60+ people working behind the scenes together to make it all work, and the atmosphere start to end is electric.

This year we were asked to put all of the subs on site into the main arena. We used our usual Danley Sound Labs setup, but with 12 x TH118XL, 2 x SH96HO (freshly painted white) and 2 x SH95HO, one for centre fill and one for bar fill. This was all powered from 5 x DNA20K4's and sounded huge!

My highlight of the weekend was getting complimented by mad professor on my mixing, and then a shout our during his set - a highlight of my career to be honest!

The weekend saw legends such as Mad Professor, clarke, Zion Train, Shniece, MC Brother Culture, General Levy and many many more come through.

FOH was an ALLEN & HEATH D-LIVE C3500 with outboard done via my Universal Audio plugins using an X6, providing some lovely extra toys such as realverb pro, distessor, Ampeg SVT and SSL G-Bus to name a few. The whole show is recorded via Dante to the mac mini running the outboard.

Monitor world was an SQ6 with 8 M4's, with all the backline carefully selected by ourselves and supplied by Ooosh! Tours ensuring the stage sound was on point with DW drums Ampeg on the bass duties and Fender on the guitar amps.

Stagelightsound.com supplied the lighting and staging again, with Barber on the controls who absolutely smashed it as usual.

Countryman Sound System Sinai Sound System and Iration steppas were all on point in the sound system arena.

David Hadland did a wonderful job of the audio on bangmix stage for us this year, and we had David Whitewood on mons and Gail Watkis stage managing.

Huge thanks to the rest of our (volunteer) build / break crew for their help (wont let me tag you) and I look forward to hopefully seeing you all again next year for Wilkswood 2025 and a huge thanks to Aron Traynor and mountjoy for creating such a special place. Also to Re-Production for the extra kit.
