🌸 For this week's Availability List we are highlighting our Salvia Lips series; a plant we think your customers will fall in love with...

👄 Salvia 'Hot Lips' is instantly recognisable for its unique, two-toned flowers, with the striking combination of bright red and pure white making it incredibly eye-catching and a real talking point in any garden. These Salvias are non-stop performers, flowering prolifically from late spring right through to the first frosts, offering incredible value and continuous colour for your purchasers. Forming a compact, bushy plant with an ultimate height and spread of around 90cm, it fits well into various garden designs without becoming unruly. This series is also very attractive to pollinators, who simply can't resist some 'kissing'! 🐝

🙂 Thank you Howard Drury for 'interviewing' some of our new plants at the the National Plant Show last week.

📺 Worth a watch, not only for the lovely things he says about our new plants and breeding programmes (of course!) but for the automated captions such as "suitable for abrasion borders"!

HortWeek writes "Drury recommends Farplants' Walberton's Frosted Dawn and Semponium 'Sienna' and 'Destiny', as well as Lavatera 'Ice White' and hardy Caryopteris. He also tips award winners Zantedeschia and Euphorbia 'Little Treasure' and 'Ascot Petite', and H**e Ibe 'Colour Dream' among the hundreds of plants available from the West Sussex grower."

🌸 At Farplants we're feeling proud, superb and showy after last week's successful National Plant Show so it seems apt to headline our Availability List with Gaura, whose name comes from the Greek word 'Gauros' meaning "proud," "superb," or "showy"!

🌿 However, the world of botany is always evolving, and thanks to modern genetic research, Gaura underwent a bit of a reclassification. Its official botanical name is now Oenothera lindheimeri; pronounced ee-no-THEER-uh lint-HY-mer-eye. A bit of a mouthful, so we're happy to stick to Gaura! It's actually part of the Evening Primrose family and you might also know it as "Whirling Butterflies" or "Beeblossom" – these names paint a vivid picture of their fluidity as their delicate flowers sway in the breeze. They're fantastic for softening edges or bridging gaps between bolder plants.

🌺 Whilst many Gaura varieties are pure white or turn pink with age, 'Walberton's Flamingo' brings a beautiful, vibrant display of pink flowers. 'Walberton's Gold Fountain' and 'Walberton's Snow Fountain' accentuate elegance, offering soft white and pink tones for a delicate garden appeal.

🌿 This week, we're delighted to welcome Toby Ashover to Farplants!

👋 Toby is joining us from St Philip Howard Catholic School for a week of work experience, with a particular interest in learning more about our sustainability practices and how we operate as a business.

💬 "I am looking forward to the opportunity to learn more about the industry and business - it's an exciting week ahead!"

🌱 He'll be spending time with our marketing team and across other departments, getting a behind-the-scenes look at our day-to-day work.

✨ What a night of celebration at the 2025 MDS Ltd Awards Ceremony during their Annual Conference! It was truly inspiring to see the incredible talent and dedication within the MDS community.

🏆 Massive Monday Morning congratulations to Sophie Williams, who was honored as one of the five winners of the highly competitive MDS Rising Star Award!

🚀Sophie's impact has been undeniable, showcasing exceptional intelligence, professionalism, and leadership. From owning complex projects to delivering outstanding content and event planning, her proactive approach has made a significant difference. Well done, Sophie, on this well-deserved recognition!

🌟 We were also delighted to see David Salisbury nominated for the Peter Shepherd Award. This award recognises those who continually support MDS and its Trainees, going above and beyond in their commitment to development, learning, and offering invaluable coaching, mentorship, and encouragement. David's nomination truly highlights the profound difference he makes to the MDS experience and helps build a bright future for trainees in our industry.

🗓️ Wrapping up a busy week and looking forward to what's ahead, we wanted to share one more of our highlights: Our MD, David Salisbury, recently had a chat with HortWeek, and we loved reading his perspective: "The industry was due a good year and got one. Farplants is emphasising newness, including Euphorbia ‘Little Treasure’ and Veronica ‘Walberton’s Spring Breeze’ and ‘Frosted Dream’, and will be at the Four Oaks Trade Show and Glee Birmingham Show this September as well as having an open day in July."

😀 This perfectly captures our enthusiasm! 🌱 We're incredibly proud of the positive year for horticulture and our ongoing commitment to bringing new plants, expediently delivered, to garden centres across the UK.

🏅The Farplants Group team has had a great National Plant Show with most of our new plants receiving a podium place, our sales team enjoying catching up with their network and new connections made.

🪩We attended some of the ‘silent disco’ seminars which were interesting and useful and appreciated the complimentary refreshments from the Horticultural Trades Association.
