Ellie Jay Stevens is a theatre director and dramaturg from Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. She holds an MA in Drama Directing from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and a BA in Drama and Performance from Queen Margaret University. Her work focuses on new writing, feminist theatre, and striking visual storytelling.
Recent directing credits include The Strongest Girl in the World (sold-out Off-Broadway run, âOff-Festâ nomination, and winner of the Entertainment Now WOW Award), A Trio of Tennessee Williams, How You Died (winner of Everything Theatreâs Best of Camden Fringe Award), and Hindsight, performed at the Scottish Parliament in 2024. She also directed Slipping Through My Fingers, a short audio drama featured on BBC Radio Bristol. Ellie is the founder of Dark Skies Ensemble, a company of early-career artists creating bold, thought-provoking theatre, and Associate Director of Fox and Hound Theatre Company. She has worked with Bristol Old Vic, the Redgrave Theatre, and venues across the UK, and previously led two actor development courses at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
