Starting a week today!! My talented painter, sister Belinda Knapp, will be at the Polstead Exhibition next weekend with over a dozen other artists. It’s a lovely event with amazing tea and cakes and set in the beautiful small holding of the Pym family with demonstrations of steam bending wood. Over the past 7 years, I’ve transformed all sorts of items for the BBC TV show Money for Nothing — but my 10th item (and 3rd rug!) definitely didn’t make things any easier! 😅
Sarah Moore gave me this seriously thick-pile rug to transform, and it was thicker than anything I’d tackled before. I wasn’t even sure my sewing machine would cope! 😬

With a bit of problem-solving — and the introduction of some sofa leather — I managed to turn it into two lovely laptop cases and a large duffle bag! 🙌

I’m very relieved to say Sarah is delighted with the results… and so am I! 😊

Karen and Gail both travelled a long way today to make these lovely bags with me today. Karen had previously been to a workshop with me a few years ago at my old studio in Surrey. She brought the tote bag she made then (see last image) and it’s still going strong 💪🏼👍❤️

Both ladies went with the botanical print lining but the similarity ended there with Gail going for this gorgeous chocolate ‘mock croc’ leather and Karen went for classic white with green accents. Both beautiful I think you can agree? 👍

It’s been a busy week since the making bespoke commissions including; a chef’s knife roll, a custom laptop case, an harmonica case, playing card case and notebook cover. Some easier than others but all a bit different to my ‘normal’ commissions and what Keene me challenged and learning every day! What’s the weirdest or most challenging commission you have been asked to make (for the makers out there!)?
