MAIL ART IN ACTION
FOR RUGGERO MAGGI
International Mail Art Exhibition
dedicated to Ruggero Maggi, who recently “returned to sender”
Curated by Kappa (performer and long-time collaborator of Ruggero Maggi, who created artistic projects, organized exhibitions, and promoted events with her, and who asked her to preserve, maintain, and continue to promote his artistic and mail art legacy) and Fabio Bonacina, Director of the Tasso and Postal History Museum.
The project involves Italian and international mailartists, who are invited to create a pro memoria card dedicated to Ruggero Maggi, his mail artworks and his Amazon Archive.
The exhibition will also provide the opportunity to talk and discuss Mail Art with the artists, critics, and organizers who have been supporting Ruggero and his projects for years. In 2021, the Museum hosted Ruggero Maggi’s exhibition “Mail Art quintessence of creative communication”. The artworks were subsequently donated to the Museum and will be digitally enhanced.
On 29 October 2026 - the exhibition’s closing day, and the first anniversary of Ruggero’s death - a “symbolic connection” with the MAM Museum of Modern Art and Mail Art at Montecarotto (AN) will take place through videos, catalogues and documentation from the previous editions of the M.A.D. MAIL ART DAY. The MAM will host the M.A.D. 2026 from 16 October. Curated by Kappa and Stefano Schiavoni, Director of the MAM Museum, the event aims to strengthen and promote collaboration among institutions committed to preserving Mail Art and to continue the journey Ruggero began towards the creation of an Archive of Archives.
The works will be donated to the Tasso and Postal History Museum as part of the Ruggero Maggi Fund, titled “MAIL ART IN ACTION / FOR RUGGERO MAGGI”
