This will be our first time here as exhibitors. We went last year for the day as mops and had such a good time we booked a pitch! Pop by and say hi, if I'm not at my stall I am very possibly having a test ride in the tank that's joining us at the show!

Pirate rock. Old English folk tunes. A band called The Captain’s Beard.

We reckon Henry would have absolutely loved it… although he’d probably have demanded a turkey leg, a tankard of ale and a bigger stage. 😂

With Battles Through History now less than TWO MONTHS away, things are getting very real at BTH HQ.

From ancient warriors and medieval clashes through to Redcoats, WW1 trenches, WW2 battles and the modern era, we're bringing over 2,000 years of history together for one enormous weekend.

Hundreds of living historians, incredible vehicles, authentic camps, traders, displays and action throughout the showground... this isn't history sitting quietly behind a glass cabinet.

This is history making a bleddin’ great noise! 💥🤣

Whether you're a serious history buff, bringing the family for an adventure, or simply fancy seeing what happens when hundreds of grown adults are allowed to dress up, fire things and good heartily argue about whose uniform buttons are historically accurate... you're going to fit right in. 😂

Remembering Dolly Parton – A Friend to Those Who Served 🇺🇸❤️

Yesterday the world said goodbye to Dolly Parton, who died peacefully at the age of 80.

For most people, Dolly will always be remembered as the extraordinary singer, songwriter and entertainer behind songs such as Jolene, 9 to 5 and I Will Always Love You.

But here at Battles Through History, we wanted to remember Dolly for something else too…

Her incredible support for the military.

Dolly never wore a uniform herself, but she spent decades showing her appreciation for the men and women who did.

She performed for service personnel, took part in programmes supporting American troops overseas, and in 2005 hosted a special Grand Ole Opry broadcast for servicemen and women around the world — even sending a very Dolly-style “Goooood morning Baghdad!” to the troops watching.

She later took part in the USO's Military Virtual Programming, speaking directly with service members and their families around the world.

Her support didn't stop with those serving. Dolly also supported veterans and military families, including through the Boot Campaign, which remembered her this week as someone who used her platform to support veterans, military families and their work.

And then there's one of the more unusual chapters in her military story…

In 2004, the United States Air Force unveiled a KC-135 Stratotanker nicknamed “Miss Dolly”, complete with Dolly's likeness. It was a wonderfully Dolly way of recognising her relationship with the military.

Her generosity also reached military children. Her Imagination Library has supported literacy programmes benefiting children in military families, helping bring a little bit of home and normality to families whose lives are shaped by service.

And perhaps that is the part of Dolly's legacy we should remember most.

She understood that supporting the military isn't only about standing beside a soldier.

It's about the families waiting at home.
The children growing up with a parent away.
The veterans returning home.
And the people who sometimes just need to know that somebody remembers their sacrifice.

Dolly used her enormous fame to make those people feel remembered.

Today, we raise a metaphorical glass to a remarkable lady who brought music, laughter, kindness and a little bit of sparkle wherever she went.

Thank you, Dolly.

You may have left the stage…

…but your voice, your generosity and the people you helped will carry on.

Rest easy, Dolly. 🇺🇸❤️
