In this age of social media, Ai and fast products it would be a crime for handmade to disappear due to our need for perfection at speed, regardless of cost, both financial and human.

HANDMADE FUTURE is an award winning film that follows artisans in six countries protecting heritage, confronting complex middlemen, and advancing responsible trade — pushing back against fast, cheap production to quietly restore a frayed world through beauty and human connection.

Kirsten and Brandon Dickerson (founders of A&N) are at the helm of HANDMADE FUTURE. Kirsten is the Director, Brandon the Director of Photography, and both are Producers. Their partnership as filmmakers ensures the blend of creative storytelling and visionary leadership, grounded in decades of experience in both film and social impact initiatives involving artisans and people living on the margins of our global community.

Appledore Community Crafters have been working quietly on the Community History Banner fo a while now but we are pleased to announce we have our final workshop next week. It has been a wonderful project that has joined us as a community and with as part of their interactive map and have provoked memories of Appledore past and present.

We are thrilled to have been asked to display it during the Appledore Book Festival, alongside Water Fowlers talk on his book : A Boys Life in Appledore, his personal story of the highs and lows of childhood in Appledore in the 1940s and 1950s

We will also have a Village View later in the year or early new year. Will keep everyone posted on details.

'The Appledore Community Banner stands as a testament to how collective making can hold memory, place, and identity in a single shared artwork. What began as a simple invitation — a hoop, some thread, and the freedom to stitch something meaningful — grew into a rich tapestry of voices from across the village'

Between making shirts for next Saturday's Craft Fair and Tapley Park Vintage Market on Bank Holiday Monday I continue to hand sew my 'Morning Suit' for a collaborative piece of work hosted by Curtains to Couture

It is interesting that sewing buttons on my shirts I often do on my machine but this repetive hand sewing of predominantly handmade shell and pearl buttons is so medative. It also provokes thoughts of the artisans who made the buttons and the seamstresses and tailors who have held them before.
