Great Crail Open Mic night at the Community Hall last night, talk about eclectic! Brendan always impresses with his songwriting; Tom and Frank of the mighty Restricted Code, fresh from a sellout gig at Crail Festival made their first ever appearance at an open mic and Barbara gave us a heartfelt original tune. Harris and Jasmine, the young ‘uns took the oldies back to halcyon days with The Cure’s ‘Boys Don’t Cry’. Paul’s Turkish ‘ney’ scented the air with its ethereal sound and, my goodness, Pippa played some classical music on her chromatic harmonica… blimey! Ray got the crowd singing along to Eurythmics ‘Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This’; Graham rocked out with his Strat, Nick gets better every time you hear him on geetar and moothie and the reassuringly rocktastic Joe ‘n’ Ali fresh from backing Tom Houston at Belladrum kicked butt. We were graced with the true spirit of rock ‘n’ roll with the mighty Tad and Tom’s ‘Little Gingko Tree’ has now become a singalong! Not forgetting the Callum, Mary, Joe, Ali and Graham ensemble who, by the seat of their pants, rawk out crunchily. Huge salutes to the performers and a big smile to the listeners, y’all make it special!
