My commission is finished! It’s been a big one and I look forward to being able to share it in a couple of weeks.
This does mean that I am now able to start my . I am so looking forward to the next 3 months of 3 days a week being able to focus on my hand raising and pewter forming techniques.
The opportunity to practice and manipulate the pewter to enable me to make larger but also more complex hollow pieces is very exciting I have got a few of my books out to do some research. If anyone has further suggestions of ones to look at please do comment.
Pewter is rarely used for raising but yet again I have found it works beautifully. It is a slower process than I am used to with pewter so having that time to think and play is something else I am looking forward to.
For any metal and silversmiths who haven’t used pewter ……..yes it is softer so does move quicker but I still need to retain that control and of course no annealing between each round of hammering!
Anyway I hope you will continue to watch this space to see what develops.
