A bit quiet, no - more like silent, as I broke a bone in my spine 2 weeks ago. A long road ahead behaving myself. Meanwhile a painting on the easel scowls at me for neglecting it and for being such an idiot at the playground with my grandchildren. Really must learn to act my age.

What to post when suffering from a fractured spine and not able to paint at the easel? Cancelled exhibitions unless I can trolley rather than carry my exhibits. A mucked up 2026. A long road ahead and having to behave myself. Not my usual thing…..!

Can you feel it? A springlike temperature today…at long last! The first painting is of a sunset view in . In spite of the terrible wet weather we have had some staggering sunsets. The second one is a reminder that there is a flip side to what we’ve been through this winter!

Here’s what happened when I woke up this rainy morning! I’ve been awarded 6th Place in the Top 20 Painting and Other Media .art annual international ‘Botanicals’ exhibition. 503 entries from 15 countries. Thank you thank you! ‘Summer Colours’, acrylic 25 x 20 cm. So pleased, especially as I had rather dismissed this small painting as it was my first still life for very many decades! I may do more if I can adjust my tiny studio’s painting corner to accommodate a still life set up. It’s available and a DM to me will give you more details. P&P FREE within the UK.

I wish I had done more paintings in watercolour when I look back at these! Being a military artist for very many years, people and clothing were always fascinating to paint. How I managed to get the velvet look of the Lord Mayor’s coachman, I really can’t remember.
