Hello all,
We’re very sad to say that we’ve been hit with more vandalism at The Dovecote Centre and we could really use your help.
We’d been busy getting the building all set to start showing movies again and host more events for the community. We’d also been working with Amble Youth Project to clear the rear of the building and once again make our outside space usable for events and groups.
In the process of doing this, sadly what we thought was another bit of storm damage to the roof has turned out to be not only vandalism but theft too - some delightful individuals have decided to rip out a significant portion of lead from our roof that runs along some of the gulleys and around our chimneys.
We’ve been talking to both our insurance and the police, and any help you could give us in the meantime would be hugely appreciated, whether that be support, information or a donation using the button at the bottom of this post.
We’re a registered charity and we aren’t fully funded, meaning that time spent dealing with issues like this is time that we could be using to fundraise to continue what we do!
If anyone has any information regarding this, please do get in touch, even anonymously, as any help with this will really assist both ourselves and the police in their investigation whilst we go through our CCTV records.
Thanks everyone,
The NTC Team

Huge thanks to everyone who came along today for our reading of The Gruffalo at Alnwick Story Fest, we had a great time. And thank you to all of our volunteers who jumped up onstage in front of a packed theatre, including young Theo Dunn who made a fantastic fox (and is now apparently thinking of a career in performing arts!)

A huge thank you to all that came to see The Wind in the Willows over the festive period.
Over 35 performances and 2000 audience members.
And thank you to our tremendous cast - Philip, Sean, Dean, Adam and Jake - your hard work and dedication in the face of snow, icy roads, 4 hour drives to Scotland, sickness bugs, upstairs get ins and wind and rain was remarkable, and you made a lot of people smile over the 9 weeks you were on the road!
A huge thank you to Adam (again) for your wonderful, catchy songs and to Lucy for your atmospheric and bubbly music.
Also thank you to Michelle for all of your help as assistant director!
We’ve got some exciting news about upcoming projects that we’ll be sharing over the next few days so keep an eye out!

Jamie’s 15 and he lives in Rotherham with his mum. Since Granda Frank died she’s stopped coming out of her room and each time Jamie sees her she’s different – one day like a child, the next like a monster; sometimes the awesome mum he’s always known.

Good morning all!
We hope you’ve all had a tremendous weekend and that your Monday is off to a smashing start!
Just a bit of news regarding our audition day on the 28th of March.
Firstly all slots are now full! Thank you to everyone that got in touch, we were a bit overwhelmed at just how many of you applied. There’s every chance that we’ll be hosting another audition day this year so please do keep an eye out on our social media and website.
Secondly, to all of you that have received an invitation to audition, emails will be sent out with more details but just to let you all know the audition venue has changed. Auditions will now be held at Gateway Studios, High Street, Gateshead, NE8 1EP.
Cheers folks!
CASTING CALL!

NTC are casting for our upcoming productions of Macbeth and The Wind in the Willows.
Auditions will be taking place on Monday the 28th of March at the Gateway Studios, High St, Gateshead NE8 1EP.
Both shows are full time positions and paid (minimum £375 a week) and accommodation will be provided throughout at our base in Amble. Full details of the shows and dates can be found below.
If you are interested in auditioning for either production, please send an email to: [email protected] with an up to date CV and a little background on your experience.

Macbeth by William Shakespeare, adapted by Chris Connaughton.
Rehearsing from the 8th of August and touring until the 9th of October.

“By the pricking of my thumbs, Something wicked this way comes.”

This all female, 3 hander version of the well known (and very gruesome) Shakespeare classic will tour to theatres, community venues, village halls and schools this Autumn.

Adapted by writer and director Chris Connaughton and directed by NTC Artistic Director Louis Roberts, this will be a streamlined version of the original piece and performed in NTC’s unique, fast paced and extremely physical style. The show will feature original music and will largely be told from the perspective of the witches. Exploring ideas of manipulation through the media and other external forces, the show will include all of the grim, gory and grisly elements that everyone loves and expects from the tale of Macbeth. Perfect for those not particularly familiar with Shakespeare’s work and die hard fans alike.

Show runtime: 40 minutes each half with a 15 minute interval (or quick 5 minute interval if a schools performance).

The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame, adapted by Louis Roberts - Rehearsing from 7th of November and touring until the 8th of January 2023.

“Beyond the Wild Wood comes the Wide World!”

In this classic tale we follow Mole, who ventures forth from the comfort of his underground home to explore the outside world. There he meets Ratty and their relationship blossoms into a heartwarming friendship as they embark on adventures together and meet other characters such as Badger and Toad! Suitable for children and families of all ages, this version will be adapted by NTC and performed in our usual fast paced, physical style with live music, song, plenty of laughs and uplifting and joyous moments.

Show runtime: 35 minutes each half with a 15/20 minute interval

In November of last year, we had a pretty solid idea of what our programme for 2022 was going to look like...normally we tour 3 shows annually, however fate, the weather and ongoing repairs to our venue have left us without a rehearsal space until May so it's looking like our Spring tour may not go ahead...BUT we won't dwell on that and we thought we'd tell you what is definitely happening this Autumn...
