I have just loved working with these oil sticks this afternoon 😍.

I hadn't realised how soft they would feel, but that is probably the heat in my studio that has melted them a little 😳 😅

If anyone has any guidance or suggestions for me about how to work with them, that would be brilliant.

I just don't have the space to try oil painting in my studio, so for the moment, they are the next best thing 👍.

I'm going to continue to experiment with them on small artwork and I might have to get some more, if I love them so much👌

Do reach out if you have any suggestions for me 🙏

Lets see what happens when I continue to work with them

Do follow along to see what mess I make, or gems of artwork I create 🤣

💬 Have you ever tried something new and you have had to research how to work with it or ask lots of people for advice?

Hi everyone, sorry I've not been on here much lately, all my time has been taken up with supporting my family, elderly dogs and everything else that needs to be done as a single mum. I am looking forward to the future ♥️.

Now its the holidays I can relax more, have a little me time and I can't wait to paint in the fresh air.

Going camping, soo looking forward to this ♥️ Waking up to peace and quiet, birds, lambs and the views of Lake Coniston.

Can't wait to share some of what I get up to. Not been for a year. You don't know how much I am looking forward to this 😉🤣🙌.

Some paintings slowly become something entirely different from where they began.

✨️ 'Mystery of Fire' started with layers inspired by water - flowing movement, depth, energy and calm. But as I kept building onto the surface, something shifted.

The deeper I worked into the layers, the more emotion began to emerge. Reds and burnt oranges and flashes of warmth started to break through the cooler tones, transforming the piece into an exploration of fire, energy and intensity.

I've become fascinated by the connection between water and fire within this artwork - two powerful elements that can both create, transform and destroy.

This piece is evolving.

I keep returning to it, adding hidden details, marks, and layers that invite people to pause, look closer and discover something new each time they see it.

That mystery is becoming one of the most important parts of the work.

✨️ Work in progress
✨️ Original textured mixed media artwork
✨️ Inspired by movement, emotion, nature and elemental energy.

If you're drawn to atmospheric, expressive and textural art inspired by emotion and nature, follow along as 'Mystery of Fire' continues to unfold.

💬 What's the first thing you noticed within the layers.

"Mystery of Fire" is becoming a painting about memory, transformation, and the things hidden beneath the surface.

As I build layers, textures, and movement into the piece… I keep noticing forms beginning to appear.

Some intentional. Some unexpected.

Almost like the painting is revealing its own story.

I’ve started adding subtle details and hidden suggestions into the work - things that might only be noticed after sitting with it for a while.

I’d love to know…

💬 If you were hiding something inside this painting… what would it be?

A symbol? A feeling? A shape from nature? Something personal? Something free?

Your ideas might even inspire what appears next within the piece.

There’s something powerful about seeing artwork in person.
The texture. The movement and the way the light shifts across the surface.

✨ The Call of the Wild is currently on display with in Manchester - and I’d love for you to experience it beyond the screen.

This piece was inspired by a moment of complete awe while flying over the Alps for the first time.

A feeling of freedom and the space to breathe. This is a reminder of how deeply nature can move us.

Through layered texture, earthy tones, and atmospheric movement, I wanted to create a piece that feels both grounding and expansive - like standing still while your thoughts finally begin to open.

If you’re nearby, go and spend time with the artwork in person.
Slow down. Take it in. Notice what you feel.
