Thursday 19th September :)

It was a small, intimate, yet very funny fun evening. A small audience, and a scattering of willing musicians gathered. It was however a night of fun, music and merriment. There was ambience, a noisy chatty gathering at the back table, and a very laid back evening unveiled itself. There were several collaborations for the first time all on the spot, and a whole lot of vibrant energy. Thanks to all of you there, big thanks to,

Sammy Mellor (Ledge)
Phil (the barman who got up and played)
The Lurxx (attitude and peace)

Emma for the original images plus the caricature ones. That was so funny .. !!

Warning to all, Emma is often around, whether you are audience or performing, she is likely going to do this to you ... We Hope.

Cheers all,

Jude and Adam

Our first night of 2026 on the 15th was a warm evening of vibes and smiles. The time of year and the wet weather perhaps dampened the amount of people there, but it failed to prevent a lovely evening for all who came. 2 of our performers or acts covered a song by David Bowie to mark his passing, now 10 years passed.!!

An eclectic mixture of both covers and original music was brought to us by,

Adam and Jude
Nick V
Jason
Deanie
The Lurxx
Cahoots
Sammy and George both together and separately
Then The Lurxx + George and Sammy gave an unrehearsed, unexpectedly great version of Hotel California

Thanks to all who came, a nice start to 2026

We're back on February 17th

Thursday nights write up has finally arrived..!!

Well that's the "end Of The year Show" all wrapped up. It was a lovely gathering of familiar faces, some appropriate festive songs, smiles and at times a really lovely vibe to be found. A wonderful array of performers came along on the night, so I must say thanks to....

George Partner
Graham (the poet)
Becky Brown with George in tow.
Cahoots
Sammy and George
Sammy (solo)
George Partner (again)
Bryn ( with a couple of Lurxx helping out)

We may be changing the name of this page to "The George Partner, it's all about me group" :)

All told it was a lovely evening. Seasons best wishes to all or in simple, Happy Christmas and wishing you all a Happy New Year..!!

Feliz Y Pas,

Jude and Adam

Thursday 20th was our third outing @ The Wheaty. It was a cold night outside, inside however it was calm, warm and fun. It took a while for a few folks to show up, but slowly there was a nice little gathering taking place. It was great to see so many known faces, and great that some new ones passed through as well. Myself and Jude opened the entertainment and displayed with grace how to start well / strong then descend into chaos. Said descent mainly caused by obvious musical failings and of course, the laughter that then infected us. It could never be said we don't enjoy setting a low bar, alongside relaxing the other people waiting to come up and perform.

The usual suspects must now be named.
Becky Brown, as confident and sublime as ever.
Becky and George Partner for a bit, not quite Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran but there's a vibe for sure.
Then George with 2 of his friends in tow "The George Partner Experience" no less. Almost AHA, perhaps "AHEEEE"
Nick V Trying not to depress us all we think? Not "Therapy?"
Then we had the adorable Cahoots, smidges of snarl like it was 1979 again. It didn't get me turning Japanese, just touched The Vapours
Ian, Jenny, and Nick V again ... Agnes stepped in for a song with them, it was "Almost Abba" no less.
The Fabulous Sam Mellor then gave us some raw magic, George Partner joined Sam, more "Cleverly" than Everly Brothers.
Bryn then bounded his way in all smiles as ever, I can say no more.
Ian Crossley and Nick Platt followed, "Eddies Echo's" I think.
Steve had the dubious task of finishing the night, and another raucous foray he delivered.

We return for a "Christmas Special" on Thursday 18th of December.
Anyone who brings along a genuine live Reindeer gets a free pint, and no dressed up goats or large dogs can be used.

Thanks and blessings,

Jude and Adam

Firstly I apologise for being slow to post this, I have my reasons I shall explain but before I do, here is this months write up.

Our 2nd night of this open mic night looked like it may be a bit thin on people and performers. Ultimately there was a nice number of both in the end, some great music impromptu duets and more. Our first comedian did a rather funny skit about a trip to India and a massage :). There was a very mellow "front room vibe" everyone relaxed in to it nicely. A big thanks to .....

Nick
Keith (the comedian)
Dave
Jason
Ian, Jenny and Nick
John and Finn
Ian and Sammy, then Sammy solo
And all others present, even the spirit or two we believe were there.

Jude and I had started the evening as we do, and we decided to throw a final two songs to end the night. Right at the end something happened I have loaded the video up for you to see .... there's no sound, I asked for this CCTV footage yesterday and received it last night hence the delayed write up. Don't watch the performers, watch the near full pint of beer (it was mine) in the lower left of the footage ... The only part you miss is it hit the chair, then landed on the floor with a massive thud, and the glass was upright about 1/4 of a pint still in it.

thanks for the footage Ben Anderson 👍

Well that was an interesting start to this new Open Mic Night. We got and are getting more feedback on how it was for everybody that came along, much of it very positive. I can only apologise that the sound had problems, a cable also failed, someone (mentioning no names) managed to silence the monitor for a short while, it was patchy in places I felt the pressure, I will be more on it next time :). Thanks to all who came, supported, smiled, performed, and we hope are now saying nice things about the evening.

Here's the performers/players

Dan
Bing
Nick
Becky Brown
John
Ian and Jenny
Steve

Thanks to all, and we are back on the 16th of October

If you are unhappy about any images posted of yourself, please let me know I will remove them.
