Ceramics at 1611 Gallery, Alston Gallery 1611 houses the wonderful ceramic artwork of Syl and Ray Macro, inspired by the ever changing textures and colours of the surrounding landscape.

Gallery 1611 houses the wonderful ceramic artwork of Syl and Ray Macro, inspired by the ever changing textures and colours of the surrounding landscape, Syl uses a highly original technique of coloured clay assemblage to create panels and vessels. Ray ‘s designs for pierced wall and table lamps are inspired by the individual character and growth patterns of trees. Also on show in the gallery is a wide variety of work by other ceramic artists and potters from the northern region

Gallery 1611 is still here showing stunning ceramics by a dozen different northern Potters. If you can fight your way through the roadworks on Front Street, having already successfully followed the diversions around Hartside which will be closed from tomorrow for 4 days.
Free vase for any one who makes here between Wed 9th and Friday 11 th May.

Also brightly decorated earthenware by Rob Watson, quirky teapots, jam pots, toast racks and lots of different sizes of freely decorated bowls. Come and look - we are open throughout Easter weekend.
