Novo Theatre

Novo Theatre Working alongside some of the most exciting theatre makers in our region, we tell original stories and create work that is unique and unexpected.

The stories we tell reflect our past and engage with our future. The North East is in our themes and narratives, the way we work, and our commitment to the talents of everyone in our region. We work with local communities to enrich our programme through co-creation models and participation. Novo Theatre is led by Joe Hufton.

Thank you to The Joicey Trust for their generous support of Novo Theatre.

The grant funding will support Novo Talent - our talent development programme that is embedded throughout everything we do. It exists because we believe the North East deserves a thriving, representative creative workforce. And because we know that right now, too many brilliant young people in Northumberland don't know that a career in theatre is even possible.

Novo Talent has two strands: a schools programme and freelancer programme.

Through free careers assemblies, workshops, and work experience placements, we connect young people in Northumberland directly with professional theatre-
makers.

Novo Talent also supports creative professionals already working in our region.
Through CPD bursaries and one-to-one mentoring, we help freelancers sustain
careers in a region where theatre opportunities are geographically scattered and
the financial challenges of sustaining a freelance career limit access to paid-for
professional development opportunities.

We are looking for volunteer stewards to join the Novo Theatre team and help us run Salt & Smoke: Stories of Blyth on 18 - 20 and 25 - 27 September.

This will involve tasks such as:

• Greeting audience members when they arrive and checking tickets
• Handing out leaflets and answering questions from members of the public
• Signposting audience members to the next location, if they should need help
• Encouraging audience members to complete our audience feedback form
• Helping to keep the performance areas free of litter.

In addition to seeing some great theatre, you'll get an insight into how we plan and manage our outdoor events, and customer service experience when communicating with audience members.

Register your interest here and we will be in touch https://form.jotform.com/Novo_Theatre/novo-theatre-volunteer-signup-form

If you haven't joined us on one of our walks before and wondering if it's for you. This is what some of our previous walkers have said.

Our next Walk in Your Shoes will be at Druridge Bay on Saturday 5th September, 1.00 - 4.30pm.

There are just a few places still available.

Walking with us is free, but if you can support us by making a donation, it is much appreciated.

Our walks are suitable for all ages and everyone is welcome. This walk would be suitable for children, although they would need supervision around Chibburn Preceptory and when crossing fields with cattle.

The walk is not suitable for wheelchair users or children’s buggies.

Well behaved dogs are welcome on our walks. Dogs must be on leads in the Nature Reserve and please be aware that the route from Druridge Pools Nature Reserve to Low Chibburn is through fields containing cows. For the sake of other walkers we ask any dog walkers to wait in the Reserve whilst the rest of the group walks to the Preceptory.
