For more than a decade, The Old School Gallery has been at the heart of Alnmouth’s cultural life. Since taking it on 11 years ago, Dale and Penny have created a much loved space that has welcomed visitors from near and far. From art exhibitions and preview evenings to a thriving café and a place for people to meet, the Gallery has been an important part of village life.
The Alnmouth Arts Festival has always had a close connection with the Gallery. In fact former owner, Judi Hill, was one of the Festival’s founders and for many years the Gallery itself was one of our venues. Together, we’ve celebrated local talent and created a special weekend of arts and crafts that continues to draw thousands of visitors.
We are therefore very sad to hear that the building may no longer be used as a gallery and could instead become a private house or holiday let. This would mean the loss of a space that has given so much to the village and which brings cultural, social and economic benefits every day.
