I am an established portrait artist specialising in oils and acrylics on canvas and board. Recently, however, I moved to Killearn, a small village in the beautiful Stirlingshire countryside and I found I was almost impelled to respond artistically to my lo

vely surroundings! So I have branched out and I’ve been assembling a series of paintings of Killearn and its environs, with the aim of a special exhibition in 2017. I have also received commissions to paint two delightful houses in the neighbourhood and you can follow my progress on these on Facebook. Have been busy recently - this is The Spring Allotment. Yes, I know it's summer, but you can hardly see the little greenhouse now as it's obliterated by cow parsley. Also, may not have mentioned that we had a studio/garden office built? Do take a peak!

The great David Hockney has died, leaving the world a much duller place.

My daughter and I saw his exhibition at the Serpentine in March. Do go if you can - it's free and it goes on till 23rd August! And it's as joyful and innovative as you'd expect.

His obituary ([email protected]) made me laugh aloud several times, especially - I'm very hard of hearing - that he wore 2 different, brightly coloured hearing aids. What attitude!

Bet he's busy in Heaven, redesigning the angels and puffing away like a chimney!
