The Wee Gallery on Candleriggs Original art, and occasional textiles depending on the exhibitors. In January we open on an ad hoc basis.

We support the call to reduce levies charged by Alloa First, the private BID company. Alloa's BID "tax" on businesses is the highest in Scotland. Private viewings can, by agreement, be arranged for customers unable to attend the gallery's limited opening times (Text 07762 433682)
With greetings cards starting at £1.50, paintings priced from £5 to £895, and crafted creations to delight, the Wee Gallery on Candleriggs aims to have an original gift to fit every budget.

It is Wednesday, the Wee Gallery on Candleriggs in Alloa is open until 3.30. What a joy to sit and view the art in this wide open tiny space. If you enjoy viewing original art, (no prints), call by the Wee Gallery. Open Mon 10 to 2, Wed 12.30-3.30, Fri 11- 2, Sat 10-3 and often on other days and at additional times. Tomorrow is window washing day on the Candleriggs as the Wee Gallery on Candleriggs in Alloa opens its doors again with half an exhibition in place and a load of floor space for all comers. Check on Google for opening times as tge are variable... Most Daturdays we are open between 10 and 33. With a hand knitted cashmere jumper by Galyna Lee, and Teeny Tartan scarves to delight the wearers, the gallery is a micro emporium of local creations, all ha d crafted or painted by tale ted people from the surrounding area and an occasional guest artist from outside Clackmannanshire.
Even when it's closed the wi dow is a delight and appointments can be made for a private viewing of the gallery - the number is on the wall outside or check out the website - www.theweegalleryoncandleriggs.co.uk See you there :>)

While the cold weather has again put the brakes on the gallery changes there are still moments to look forward to like indulging in the delights of Sky's Landscape Artist of the year. I believe Scott S Simpson is the featured artist this Wednesday giving us all the opportunity to sit back and learn how one of the Wee Gallery on Candleriggs' artists creates landscapes. Fingers crossed that being in the camera's eye doesn't distract Scott from his impressive immersive style. Enjoy :>)

Time for a good read is rare and precious. Local authors and researchers including the late Janette Achibald and Isobel Grant Stewart have given to Clackmannanshire two wonderful illustrated books Victorian Alloa and the Past Around us. They sit alongside the work ofvtwo creative writers Brian Fearon and John Glass. In "Belfast - Out of the Shallows" " Brian tells a story of love, loss, and striving for redemption; while John author of "Memory Gene - The Final Piece" takes the reader on a journey of discovery throuh time and history as an archaeologist finds his life on a whole new course following the discovery of a piece of pottery near Hadrian's wall. These books are avaiable in the Wee Gallery on Candleriggs in Alloa but we are not a book store so numbers are limited.
If it helps we are open between 11 and 2pm the Sunday before Christmas.

Artist Bobby Rennie joined the gallery team for a Thursday "late night" opening trial. Coming out in dark evenings is a challenge for some and coming out on a dreich winters day may seem similar BUT for the intrepid lover of art no night is too dark or day too dreich to enjoy viewing the work of talented artists and crafters. All quiet in the Candleriggs hope the High Street is buzzing. Galyna dropped by to give the mannequin a hug before handing in some beautiful quilled tree-decorations to fill the gaps of the many sold. And Lisa contemplates the magnificence of Galyna's oil painting. With December just a day away all of us in the Wee Gallery on Candleriggs Alloa hope you will have time to stop by and absorb the calming wonder of original art and artefacts.

A four hour shift has transformed the Wee Gallery on Candleriggs Alloa into festive wonderland. Thanks to Teresa McNally and time spent digging deep in the derenz studio we hope we have done justice to the lovely products local artists and creators have delivered.
For the first time we have 2 beautiful quilted table runners by Lorna Bayliss. A number of quilled tree decorations by Galyna Lee make perfect secret Santa gifts.
So if you are in Alloa for the Christmas Light switch on be sure to call by. And check out the windows at Anna's Larder.
The Wee Gallery on Candleriggs will be open tbis Saturday from 10am until the festivities in the High Street draw to a close.
Fingers crossed for a bright dry day. See you the morra Saturday 29th November.
