Visit Hopton Hall, its walled garden and cafe during the Month of Art in July. The garden is open every Thursday to Sunday, from Thursday, 2nd July to Sunday, 26th July 2026.

Artists are encouraged to create an artwork based off the grounds of Hopton Hall and submit it to the Month of Art competition!

If you're looking to try something new this summer, take part in this Kinusaiga workshop!

Kinusaiga is a modern Japanese craft where patterns are built from small pieces of fabric tucked into carved lines on a soft board. Instead of stitching, the design is created by gently pressing each fabric fragment into place, forming a richly textured, layered picture.

PAGANINI (Pencil, Tempera, Collage 21 x 29.7cm Mark Lilley © 1985)

A multimedia experimental collage depicting the story of Paganini, a musical genius virtuoso violinist and composer. Paganini possessed superhuman talent and was able to play 12 notes a second, so was accused of witchcraft and said to have made a pact with the devil, resulting in being denied a burial on consecrated ground, banished to roam the deserted wasteland; an outcast for eternity – a tormented soul and genius who never belonged to this world much like Van Gogh.

My amazing art teacher Mr. Coalman at John Flamsteed Comprehensive School told me this story, which immediately resonated with me, so I created PAGANINI. I was awarded an ‘A’ for this work, later receiving an ‘A+’ for a photomontage, sadly now lost to the sands of time.
