Dear Friends of Bodies in Flight,
I am writing with some very sad and shocking news:
Sara Giddens, choreographer and co-director of Bodies in Flight, died in hospital last Friday.
I have few details, suffice to write that she was with all her family at the end.
Sara had been diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago and following treatment was given the all clear in 2021. Her continuing good health gave us all grounds for thinking positively about the future, and we had very recently received confirmation of project funding from ACE for the Third Edition of our current project Life Class in Blackpool in spring/summer 2024. We were also completing revisions to a book about our work to be published by Intellect early 2025.
Her husband Tony and her family are understandably unable to deal with any communications at this time.
And it will take me some time, in conversation with collaborators, to find a way forward for Bodies in Flight.
Please bear with me; and I will communicate as soon as I can.
Wishing you all well,
Simon
