After a bracing swim in the North Sea or a wander along Crag Path, stop by Aldeburgh Beach Lookout, a 19th-century tower that once helped ships navigate stormy waters, which has now been revamped into a hub for artists, from potters to illustrators.
Caroline Wiseman, art dealer, author and RSA Fellow, found her spiritual home in Aldeburgh 16 years ago after living in London and New York. She carefully restored the Aldeburgh Beach Lookout and Art House. She says: “Aldeburgh is pure creativity, a place of art, ideas and timeless beauty. In the spirit of Britten, culture brings people here – not just artists, but poets, writers, musicians. They are all drawn to the sea. It’s transformative with its ever-changing light and colours.”
