Today is National Poetry Day!

​Every year, we are proud to welcome members of the Suffolk Poetry Society to recite their poems from the spiral staircase of the Lookout. Join us today from 12 noon until 2 pm.

Meet the lovely Artists on Tour at the Aldeburgh Beach Lookout!

Open daily from 10am – 5pm until 27th September.

This collective of artists of whom are long-standing friends, are showcasing a selection of their latest work. This includes abstract wild swimmers from Lucy Bennett, vibrant screen prints from Jessica Scott alongside delicate pieces of ceramic from Geraldine Somerville; while Caroline Burvill, Daphne Pigott and Lizzy May specialise in depicting the landscape in oils, and Candida Meyrick produces sweeping skyscapes, inspired by her experiences of flying her hawk.

Throughout the week the artists will be spending time in The Lookout and will be keen to talk to others about their work and inspiration.

Don't miss the fabulous Artists on Tour at the Aldeburgh Beach Lookout!

We are proud to welcome Artists on Tour

A collective of artists that are hosting a pop-up exhibition in The Aldeburgh Beach Lookout until 27th September.

The artists, who are long-standing friends and mostly live in the New Forest, bring a distinct professional background to the show, from architecture and acting, to writing and design.

"We have a mixed but interesting bag of experience," explains Lizzy May, one of the organisers. "There is an author, a furniture designer, an architect and an actor among us, but we share a life-long love of creating, connecting through painting and joy of the outdoors."

The group will take over the Aldeburgh Beach Lookout to show a selection of their latest work. There are abstract wild swimmers from Lucy Bennett, vibrant screen prints from Jessica Scott alongside delicate pieces of ceramic from Geraldine Somerville; while Caroline Burvill, Daphne Pigott and Lizzy May specialise in depicting the landscape in oils, and Candida Meyrick produces sweeping skyscapes, inspired by her experiences of flying her hawk.

A wonderful piece in yesterday's Telegraph online by travel writer Kerry Walker, featuring the Aldeburgh Beach Lookout.

After a bracing swim in the North Sea or a wander along Crag Path, stop by Aldeburgh Beach Lookout, a 19th-century tower that once helped ships navigate stormy waters, which has now been revamped into a hub for artists, from potters to illustrators.

Caroline Wiseman, art dealer, author and RSA Fellow, found her spiritual home in Aldeburgh 16 years ago after living in London and New York. She carefully restored the Aldeburgh Beach Lookout and Art House. She says: “Aldeburgh is pure creativity, a place of art, ideas and timeless beauty. In the spirit of Britten, culture brings people here – not just artists, but poets, writers, musicians. They are all drawn to the sea. It’s transformative with its ever-changing light and colours.”
