First Light Flowers

Hello flower friends! I really have got out of the social groove but hanging in there.

How’s everyone keeping? While the plot is having it’s last hurrah, I’m looking forward to what the next season will bring - I’ll be honest, I won’t miss this summer, I’m not adverse to a bit of hard work, but the flower farming community has really felt it this year.

The socks went on for the first time last night and I spied the soup maker in the cupboard. Feel free to share your favourite autumnal recipes ☺️

Oh how I love an umbel.

Seed saving ready for next year - this florist’s dill has been amazing and the scent is still so strong, one of my favourites to add to an arrangement. Shape, texture and scent, what’s not to like.

Some of the seed heads have been dried and will scent autumn/winter bouquets however a couple of heads will give me more than enough seeds for next year. If anyone fancy’s some seeds just drop me a line.

I know, I know…. I promised myself I’d be more present here but I think it’s just all been a bit much with this weather malarkey hasn’t it.

But onwards and upwards as ever

The field is looking somewhat tired, but there have been blooms and I’ve been busy drying everything in sight - here’s a quick snapshot of some of what’s hanging around. Dried dahlias and asters, you absolute beauties!

This is exactly why I only garden naturally, never use pesticides etc. I came across a few of these on the field today, they’re huge!

I’m looking forward to bringing the blooms to Ormesby Manor this Sunday.

It’ll be a bit cooler so a perfect day to swing by, get your flower fix and meet all the fabulous local stall holders in such a glorious setting. We’re so lucky to have spaces like this on our doorstep.

Just look at those ruffles! brings to mind a peach melba :-)

It's fair to say that the weather is somewhat challenging at the moment, late evening watering is the job in hand and very little else done on the plot during the day. Hope everyone is coping with the weather wherever you are, it's been hot here in Norfolk but thankfully we've not had the brutal temperatures of other places.
