I’m so excited to be bringing Laura’s Imagination Station to Leaping Lizards Play Centre The Halfway House Chorley and Black Bull Inn - Old Langho for the first time this month. ❤️

🎶 SATURDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER • 6PM

Mamma Mia Greek Island Paint & Sip

Tuesday night reminded me exactly why I do this. 🎨

I ran my first Highland Cow Paint & Sip at the lovely The Bonny Inn and it was completely sold out.

But the bit that meant the most to me wasn’t the numbers...

At the beginning of every session I tell people:

I’m not here to teach you how to become an artist. I’m here to help you realise you can make art.

I’m not a polished artist and I don’t pretend to be. I make things that are fun, achievable and hopefully make people look at the example and think:

“That’s cute… I could probably do that.”

And last night, someone actually noticed that.

One guest told me she loved that the session didn’t feel intimidating or overly polished, because nobody felt under pressure to be perfect.

Another arrived expecting to paint a pottery Highland Cow and was initially disappointed. Halfway through she came over and said:

“This is so much better. I had no idea I could paint. When’s your next one?”

That absolutely made my night.

I also left with an enquiry for a private girls’ night party and another from someone running an adult care facility.

One lovely lady told me she’d nearly cancelled because she’d had an awful week with a loved one in hospital. She said she was so glad she hadnt as the evening had helped her switch off, laugh and forget about everything for a couple of hours.

That one really stayed with me.

Looking around the room at all these completely different Highland Cows, made by people who mostly started the evening saying “I can’t paint”, felt pretty special.

Creativity doesn’t need to be perfect to be valuable.

Sometimes it just needs to make someone smile, relax, surprise themselves and think:

“Hang on… I actually did that.”

And I think that’s what Laura’s Imagination Station is really about. 💜

Tomorrow’s Mini Artists Studio at The Acorn is all about giving children the freedom to paint, draw, experiment and create in their own way.

There’s no “right” picture to copy and no pressure to make anything perfect, just lots of colour, imagination and hands-on fun. 🖌️💛
