This Tuesday (20th October 4PM - 5:30PM) Black House founder Kirk Holland is sitting on an online discussion, speaking about music and race in Wales and what the picture is like outside the big cities with regards to diversity - seeing if there are any issues and talking about ways to address them. Big thanks to TΕ· Cerdd and Aberystwyth Arts Centre for hosting this!

If anyone is interested in hearing about what it's like working and living as a creative within the music scene in rural Mid-Wales (as someone who isn't Welsh and from a different ethnic and cultural background) as well as promoting and providing a platform for different types of music - head to:

5 years ago, we put on one of the biggest events of its kind in a tiny end of the line town in the middle of Wales called Aberystwyth. 3000 people, 9 stages spread over 2 venues and so much in between - the idea of putting an event on with a cap of 1/6th of the local population seemed crazy! The numbers just didn't add up and the risk was astronomical...but the importance of creating something of this scale in Aber to bring as many people together as we could - promoters, artists, crew and music lovers, culminating years of work through BLACK HOUSE outweighed it all.

Through a combo of sheer luck and balls out determination, just under 3000 people came and experienced an event brought together by a dream team of creatives and friends who are now top of their respective games in the industry.
Sadly the idea of an event like this seems even more crazy now then it did then. The world is most definitely a different place and it's gutting to think a whole generation won't get the chance to feel the buzz of thousands of people in their element. Worst of all, people who have honed skills over their entire working lives to be able to produce events like these have been left with no industry at all.

Who knows what the future will bring or what the knock on effects will be to our scene and industry. Everyone is desperately searching for answers and help, I think the reality is that there is none. Only time will tell and I really hope things get back to what they once were. Until then, all my love and respect to everyone who helped make these events happen, to everyone who came and enjoyed them with us and to everyone who, like me, desperately misses them x

RIP Ebow aka Metropolis from Foreign Beggars. Such a talented, humble and amazing artist, one of our heroes and a huge influence on our musical journey over the past 18 years. We were blessed to have him grace our stage in Aberystwyth for our special 10th Anniversary show.

Ebow is survived by his 10 year old son Cassius and the group has set up a just giving to raise money for him and his future. If you have enjoyed or been touched by his work and are able to donate, you can do so here:
