A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Picnic in the Park, Abergavenny yesterday.

We had a wonderful time performing, and our rendition of 9 to 5 certainly got a few feet tapping and smiles appearing (after a little bit of encouragement 😉) 🎶💃

Despite the mixed weather, the atmosphere was fantastic and it was great to see so many people enjoying the event. Thank you to the organisers, volunteers fellow performers and everyone who stopped to listen and support us throughout the day.

Here's to the next performance! 🎺😊

🎺 Busy Bank Holiday Weekend Ahead! 🎺

We're looking forward to two fantastic events this weekend:

🌾 Sunday – Llangynidr Agricultural Show
🧺 Monday – Picnic in the Park, Abergavenny

The forecast looks a little mixed, but a bit of Welsh weather won't stop us! 🌦️ We'll be bringing plenty of music, smiles and community spirit wherever we go.

☂️ Our top tip: bring a waterproof and your sunglasses, you may need both!

🎺 Our talented young musicians continue to make us proud! 🎺

Following our recent posts celebrating Alice's experience with the National Youth Brass Band of Wales and Seren's time with the National Youth Percussion Ensemble, we're delighted to shine a spotlight on another of our talented young musicians.

This summer, Bella, one of our cornet players, attended the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain Summer Course in Taunton, joining some of the country's finest young brass and percussion players. The course was led by Lieutenant Colonel Lauren Petritz-Watts, Principal Director of Music (Army) in the Royal Corps of Army Music, alongside an outstanding team of tutors and musicians.

Throughout the week, Bella took part in intensive rehearsals, sectionals, masterclasses and performances, working alongside like-minded young musicians from across the UK and developing her skills at the highest level. The course culminated in a showcase concert, giving participants the opportunity to perform challenging and exciting repertoire.

As with Alice and Seren, this experience offered so much more than musical development. These national courses provide opportunities to build confidence, make lasting friendships and create memories that will remain long after the final note has been played.

We're incredibly proud of Bella for earning her place and making the most of this fantastic opportunity. Together, Alice, Seren and Bella demonstrate exactly what youth banding can offer. Through hard work, commitment and a love of music, they are accessing experiences that are helping them grow both as musicians and as young people.

Congratulations, Bella! We can't wait to see what comes next. 🎶

🥁 Another young musician making the most of the opportunities that banding can provide! 🥁

Following our recent post about Alice's experience with the National Youth Brass Band of Wales, we're delighted to celebrate another of our talented young players.

This summer, Seren attended the National Youth Percussion Ensemble (NYPE) course at Wells Cathedral School in Somerset, joining some of the UK's most talented young percussionists.

The week brought together young musicians from across the country for intensive coaching, ensemble workshops, masterclasses and performance opportunities in a specialist music school setting.

Seren had the opportunity to learn from an outstanding team of percussion tutors, including world-renowned percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, alongside specialists in orchestral percussion, timpani, drum kit, chamber music and audition preparation.

Most importantly, Seren had a fantastic time, developing her skills, making new friends and enjoying every minute of the experience.

As a band, we're incredibly proud to see our young musicians taking advantage of opportunities like these. Watching them grow in confidence, develop their skills and access experiences they may never otherwise have had is one of the most rewarding aspects of banding.

Congratulations, Seren! 👏🥁

We're so grateful that being part of the banding family continues to open amazing doors for our young people, helping them develop not only as musicians, but as confident and ambitious young people too.

Alice flies the flag for Abergavenny Band!

A huge well done to our talented bass player Alice Williams, who has recently returned from the National Youth Brass Band of Wales course in Bangor.

The course included intensive rehearsals with leading tutors, guidance from renowned conductor Philip Harper, and performances in Bangor, St Davids and Newport.

Alice's highlight?

"Getting advice from the tutors and Philip, and of course all the social activities."

It sounds like a brilliant week of music, learning and friendship. We're so proud to see our young players taking advantage of opportunities like this and representing Abergavenny Band so well.

🎶 What a fantastic time we had in Abergavenny town centre yesterday! 🎶

The town was buzzing, with locals and visitors stopping to enjoy the music, sing along and even show off a few impressive dance moves! 🕺💃

From classic favourites to modern hits, there was something for everyone. Judging by the reaction, Chubby Checker's "Let's Twist Again" was a particular favourite, with plenty of people joining in🎵😄

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped create such a brilliant atmosphere. ❤️

The band is playing from 10am until 1pm, bringing great music and a fantastic atmosphere to the heart of town.

📣 We're delighted to announce that we'll be performing at Readings & Music in Aid of F.L.O.W. at the Melville Theatre, Abergavenny on 7th November 2026!

Expect an evening filled with moving stories, poetry and music, all raising funds for The Forces Literary Organisation Worldwide, whose work supports veterans, serving personnel and their families through the power of storytelling and creativity.

🎟 Tickets are just £10, with all proceeds supporting F.L.O.W.

🎶 What a day for our percussion team! 🎶

Today, these fantastic young musicians took part in the Gwent Music Percussion Ensemble at the Music for Youth National Festival in Birmingham and we couldn't be prouder! 🌟

They've worked incredibly hard, shown huge commitment, and had the amazing opportunity to perform.

Experiences like this are what music is all about learning, performing, making new friends and having fun!

A massive well done to all of you. You should be very proud of yourselves... because we certainly are! 👏🥁💜
