Since 1974, Peacock - a workshop for art (previously Peacock Printmakers & Peacock Visual Arts) has supported thousands of artists in the production of artworks, ranging from prints to video works, photography, performance and site-specific public installations. At its core lies the idea of the multiple - work that can be reproduced in a variety of formats, analogue and digital, reconfiguring the

relationship between the artist, the artwork and the audience, which can be outlined simply as making, learning and showing. Our organisation is supported by Aberdeen City Council and Creative Scotland. Peacock’s role in the city of Aberdeen, through its printmaking workshops and the gallery/project space the worm, has been to activate spaces where artists and citizens are, prompted by artworks to congregate around ideas and practices that interrupt everyday routines. Our making facilities include a screen printing studio and relief printing studio as well as a laser cutter and vinyl cutter. In our online print shop, we have a wide range of contemporary art prints for sale by local, regional and international artists, many of which have been published and editioned at Peacock - a workshop for art. Our open access workshop is based just off the Castlegate, with a sign above the close. Our project space and gallery is on the Castlegate and is called the worm.

There's only 2 more weeks to catch The Attuning Zone by Maja Zeco.

This body of work has developed over the past two years as part of ‘Living with Energy Transition’ a collaborative project between the arts and social sciences. It began with a series of soundwalks - a practice of listening while walking – that took place at St Fittick’s Park in Torry, Aberdeen. St Fittick’s Park is a site partially earmarked for development as an energy transition zone despite the protests of the local community and activists.

Energy transition is the shift from fossil fuels to more renewable sources made necessary by the climate crisis. It is often presented as a pathway to a sustainable future, however, the places and spaces where energy transition unfolds uncover a more complex story - one where the promise of economic opportunity goes hand in hand with a reordering of environments, ways of knowing, and practices of care and belonging.

With the up coming print exhibition, Chaos & Control opening next week at the RSA, we want to highlight a new print edition by David McCracken.

"The fading light is what I really crave. Cars with their headlights just coming on."
Sam Shepard - from Motel Chronicles

The latest print, titled Passengers, continues a decades long exploration of landscapes, roadways and the subtle connection to our lives and lived experiences.

David McCracken was born in Glasgow and moved to Kemnay aged 8, a small quarrying village with a large hole at its heart. After studying painting at Duncan of Jordanstone Collage of Art in Dundee, he settled in the northeast of Scotland to pursue his first love of printmaking.

He currently works at Peacock & the worm in Aberdeen and has his work represented in many distinguished collections including The Collection of the Bank of New York Mellon, The Scottish Parliament, Aberdeen Art Gallery and The De Beers Collection.

Check out Passengers and more prints by David via the link and be sure to see it in person at Chaos & Control in Edinburgh.

Some of the team recently paid a visit to Tom Hammick in London to support the creation of a new print, coinciding with the opening of 'The Sun and The Moon: Art Inspired by the Celestial' at Saatchi Gallery.

Alongside the new print edition, the full Lunar Voyage suite is on display as part of the exhibition. It's brought us right back to 2017 when Tom first visited the studio here in Aberdeen, and began working on these magnificent prints. Scroll through to see the explosion of colour that occured and woodcut elements which were used to create these unique prints.

'The Sun and The Moon: Art Inspired by the Celestial' exhibition is open now and runs until the 8th September, so if you're in London this summer, be sure to check it out.
