Life Writing & Memory – writing workshop

Saturday 29 November, 10am – 12 noon

Fittie Community Hall, New Pier Road, Aberdeen, AB11 5DR

As the nights draw in, it’s a perfect time to reflect, write and journal. Get cosy in the Fittie Hall and join writer Emily Utter to explore life writing and memory.

We’re often aware of why we remember, but what about *how* we remember?

Does a memory jump out at you from nowhere? Or does it float in on a familiar smell or taste? Do you see it play out before you like a roll of film? Or do memories come to you in fragments – flashes? Is your memory detailed, visceral? Or is it more of a feeling – a colour?

In this workshop we’ll consider the ways in which our memories come to us, and how we can work with them to convey – through writing – an essential truth. We are not concerned with fact, but rather with narrative possibility.

No prior experience with creative writing required.

Tickets £15. Refreshments provided.

✨ Eternal Ecstasy: Jamie Reid ✨

From the S*x Pistols’ iconic visuals to decades of fearless, politically charged art, Jamie Reid spent his life challenging power and fighting for freedom.

Described by his gallerist John Marchant as “an anarchist, punk, hippie, sh*t-stirring rebel and romantic”, Reid’s work is as provocative now as it was then - bold, uncompromising, and unforgettable.

🔥 Punk. Rebel. Visionary. Jamie Reid’s art challenges, shocks and inspires. Step inside Eternal Ecstasy.

I have brought this page back to life with a subtle name change, Please note that it is no longer associated with the soon-to-be-late All In Ideas SCIO. Said organisation is now in the process of being dissolved, sadly, as there was no option to move forward due to its unrecoverable financial status.

This page will now serve as a platform for occasional opinions, discussions and images from the art and wider cultural sector. Could get juicy.

I will share things that interest me, opinions that may challenge and support and more than happy to share news etc. Please be aware that I'm old and will miss things, so don't take it personally if things slip through the net.

All In Ideas & The Anatomy Rooms

The Anatomy Rooms was established 2015 by independent arts organisation ‘All In Ideas’(SC045962). Founded by Jim Ewen it is a unique art and creative industries studio and project centre situated within the historic Marischal College in Aberdeen City centre.

Founding organisation, All In Ideas, supports a variety of practitioners, projects and events and works closely with partner organisations to advance the city's cultural sector and as an organisation and facility we are predominantly voluntarily managed and does not currently receive core funding and is sustained entirely through our affordable studios rents and hires.

Placing artist first ‘All In Ideas’ is directed by the following manifesto
