Granite City Chorus

Our singing style is the four-part male, unaccompanied close harmony of Tenor, Lead (Melody), Baritone and Bass

The chorus has been in existence since 1990, from an initial idea by Bob Stevens, our current Honorary President. Beginning as the "Royal Mailers" which reflected its postal origins the current name is synonymous with North East Scotland's Granite heritage. Our "Sunday Name" is The Aberdeen Barbershop Harmony Club

We have a current membership of just under fifty guys. The Club is one of over 50 such clubs around the UK who are members of the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS). Our Association is affiliated to the parent Society, the Barbershop Harmony Society of America and to the UK choral organisation "Making Music", previously the National Federation of Music Societies. We are a Social and Competitive chorus meaning that we sing for fun and the entertainment of others, but also like to compete in annual barbershop conventions against many other choruses from around the UK and Europe.

Grant's adventure in China is nearly over... and he's looking forward to coming home. 🧸✈️

He's explored ancient streets, watched the sunset over incredible temples, made new friends and discovered some amazing places.

But there's one thing he's really excited about...

Grant's discovered that some places are even more magical after the sun goes down. 🏮✨

While he's been enjoying the sights of China, we're counting down to welcoming some new faces to Granite City Chorus.

Our favourite travelling bear has swapped Aberdeen for China, where he's been making new friends and taking in some incredible sights and trying some new skills.

One thing Grant hasn't managed to find yet? A barbershop chorus! 🎶

Thankfully, he knows exactly where to find one when he's back home...

Every adventure has to end... but the best ones are only the beginning. 🌅🧸

After taking in the sights, finding a piano and making plenty of memories in Ireland, Grant is ready for his next stamp in the passport.

He's heading somewhere a little further from home...

Any guesses where he'll turn up next? 👀✈️

We'll give you a clue... it's a long flight!

Grant may be on holiday, but some habits are impossible to break... 🎹🧸

It wasn't long before he found a piano.

We're still not sure whether he played a tune, sang along, or just claimed the best seat in the house.

One thing's for certain though – wherever Grant goes, music never seems to be far away.

We wonder where he'll wander off to next... 👀

🖤🧸 Grant has survived his trip to The Black Parade!

Our furry ambassador headed to Wembley to see My Chemical Romance and we're pleased to report he's made it back in one piece... albeit with a slightly sore voice.

He's now insisting we add eyeliner to the concert uniform, thinks every tag should end with a guitar solo, and keeps muttering, "It's not a phase..."

Welcome home, Grant. We'll carry on. 🎶
