'City of Suffragettes' exhibition with a cohort of 30 + ACJ makers in September.

Looking forward to showing you what I've come up with in response to the Suffragette theme!

If you are in Grantown On Spey in August.....

Bord Necklace: Signals Edition is being displayed in OPENSPACE • THE VAULT •right now alongside 15 other artist/makers work in response to the colours RED + BLACK and themes connected to the Cairngorms.

The Signals Edition of the Bord Necklace explores movement, communication and caution through bold geometric forms and a vivid red colour palette. Hand-cut from Scottish oak veneered with Formica, the necklace draws inspiration from the graphic language of warning signs, trail markers and symbolic wayfinding.

Its repeated geometric shapes suggest a coded message, that could be interpreted as a warning, a guide or a path to safety when navigating mountain landscapes.

Decided to fill up my grid with a little more jewellery after an epic summer of playful workshops.

Bord Collection Reversible necklace in Teal + Powder Blue on teal blue adjustable cord. Made from Scottish Oak.

Why Bord? Bord is an old Scots word which has a few meanings. It can mean a plank or board of wood or the border or edge of something - seemed like a good fit.

Yes it's another week and another workshop!

I'll be at Aberdeen Local Makers Market on Thursday morning for a super simple, chilled out session of simple paper cutting, folding and stamping! Not great with scissors? I have lots of paper stamps to make garlands, all simple to make!!

TIckets are £10 per person plus booking fee via Aberdeen Local Makers Market Eventbrite page. Feel free to get in touch as we have a few free community tickets left too

RED | BLACK | BLACK | RED | and the Space in Between presents a diverse offering of 16 artists and 16 very different interpretations of the colours red and black. 

The exhibition draws inspiration from Am Monadh Rua, the Gaelic name for the Red Hills of the Cairngorms, and dubh, the Gaelic term for black or dark which appears in many names describing shadowed corries and dark landscapes.
