We are thrilled to announce an exciting new opportunity in partnership with Guesthouse Projects 📣

Casting is now open for a young person from Aberdeen to join the new production, The Show For Young Men.

🔵 ABOUT
Directed by Eoin Mckenzie, The Show For Young Men is a performance about a friendship between a man and a boy. Through play, dance, and working with objects from a building site, they create a world together – one that is joyful, tender and full of possibility.

🔵 WHO
Applications are open to boys aged between 8-11 who will help to create a new version of the show alongside a professional dancer.

🔵 WHEN
The final show will be performed at the Lemon Tree on Sat 24 April 2027, as well as some tour dates in Spring and Autumn 2027.

There's one month to go before the North-east becomes comedy central as top comedians descend upon the city for another edition of Aberdeen Comedy Festival 🤣

🔴 SATURDAY 19 SEPTEMBER TO SUNDAY 04 OCTOBER 2026

Some of the comedians making the trip north from the Fringe include two of Scotland’s leading stand-ups, Connor Burns and Larry Dean, two-time Spirit of Billy Connolly nominee Kim Blythe, and Fred MacAulay makes a welcome return to the stage with Good Evening. Mark Thomas will also be reflecting on his 40 years in stand-up comedy, multi award-winning Laura Lexx brings her new show Yo-Yo, while relative newcomers Grace Campbell and Sophia Wren bring their latest hours to the festival.

Aberdeen Comedy Festival will also welcome Susan Calman and Russell Howard when they stop off at the Music Hall as part of their UK tours. Author, podcaster and award-winning stand-up comedian Alasdair Beckett-King proves why he’s the King of Crumbs, Balloonatic brings a touch of magic in a visually arresting family show, while Janet Street Porter is still off the leash at 80! in a programme that will tickle everyone’s fancy.

There's a month to go before applications close for the New Play Commission for Light the Blue 2027 📣

You've still got time to polish up your scripts before submitting them, and if you haven't heard, we're looking to commission a new play!

This opportunity is for a creative in the early stages of their career based in, or has meaningful connection, to the North-east of Scotland.

Supported by Creative Scotland through the Expanded Festivals Fund, the new commission opportunity will see the new production open at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen in June 2027 for a run of up to one week.

Throwback Thursday to some moments from the Wild West Bank Heist ⚡️

An escape room-like experience was put together by our Young Programmers where participants had to r***e through books, crack open a briefcase and convince the sheriff to leave their jacket behind so people could pillage it for clues 🤫

The theme, script and marketing materials were all conjured up by these talented youngsters for our Light the Blue audience earlier this year.

Congrats to all those involved! What a fun event 👏
