Another busy week for Sounds of Music! 🎶

On Wednesday, the guys joined Debbie to check out some of the performance spaces in Rosemount Community Centre and explore the possibilities for future performances and events.

They then got stuck into the pieces they’re currently working on as preparations continue for a number of upcoming showcases! Lots of music, plenty of ideas and some exciting things coming together! Watch this space! 👀🎤🎹

We’re settling in at Rosemount Community Centre and absolutely loving our new HQ!

Our Tuesday class has been working on keyboards over the last few weeks and they’ve been doing brilliantly. It’s been great to see everyone developing their skills and growing in confidence as they learn new songs and techniques.

Sounds of Music is our performing arts programme for 16-25+ year olds who are currently in or have recently left supported education. Through music, singing and performance participants build confidence, develop skills, make friendships and enjoy being part of a supportive and creative community.

🎉 Our Kiltwalkers raised an amazing £700 for Music 4 U! 🎉

A massive thank you once again to our fantastic walkers Lee, Shona, Malcolm and Fraser for pulling on their walking boots and raising such an incredible amount to support Music 4 U!

We're looking for a volunteer Kiltwalk Team Leader to help coordinate our fundraising campaign, encourage people to sign up and keep Team Music 4 U motivated in the lead up to the event! It's a flexible volunteer role and a great opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing people together, has a flair for fundraising or simply wants to help us grow our biggest Kiltwalk team yet.

WOW! What an afternoon! 🎶💜

Yesterday's Everlasting Love performance at Alzheimer Scotland's Dementia Resource Centre was absolutely fantastic!

Ethan and Lauren took to the mic and totally wowed the audience! Before long, the room was filled with singing, clapping and dancing and they were rewarded with well-deserved standing ovations. Moments like these are a lovely reminder of the joy, connection and shared memories that live music can create and exactly what our Everlasting Love project is all about.

Debbie also shared some of the Music 4 U story, including how both Ethan and Lauren came to the charity. One of the most heart-warming moments came when the lady who had organised the performance realised that she had actually been Ethan's nursery teacher when he was just four years old. What a wonderful full-circle moment!

They say a show is only as good as its audience and yesterday's audience was truly world class. Thank you to everyone at Alzheimer Scotland for such a warm welcome and for making the afternoon so special.

🤩 What a fantastic evening we had at our Bingo Night at The Ashvale!

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised over £1,700 to help us continue providing opportunities for young people across Aberdeen and Shire!

A special thank you also goes to our brilliant bingo host, Stuart, who kept everyone entertained throughout the evening and to all the wonderful staff at The Ashvale for looking after us so well. The food was absolutely delicious and we couldn't have asked for a better venue.

We are so proud of our young people, who did an amazing job throughout the evening, including performing 'Our Aberdeen' to open the event. This also marked the exciting launch of our A-Z of Our Aberdeen project… and, of course, the letter A had to be for The Ashvale! 🎶

We'd also like to say a HUGE thank you to Vi and the Trinity Church Knitting Group, who joined us on the night and presented us with a beautiful handmade blanket that we'll be fundraising with very soon - watch this space for more information! 🧶👀
