“It brings me great sadness that I have made the difficult decision to bring Umbrella A Ca****la for a close, at least for now. New adventuress await many of our UAC team, among many other reasons; financial and human resource difficulties etc... That’s not to say the brollies are put away for good. As we approach the new year, I remise on the special memories and happiness Umbrella A Ca****la has endured over the last 2 years. We’ve had some brilliant highs, and some equally difficult lows over the last 2 years of it’s creation. My heart is truly warmed by the success and personal impact I have seen before me. I have watch so many members flourish (the exact reason I brought this group to fusion). 🥰

It brings me great sadness that I have made the difficult decision to bring Umbrella A Ca****la for a close, for now. New adventuress await many of our UAC team among many other reasons financial difficulties etc... That’s not to say the brollies are put away for good. Who knows where in the world you might see the brollies pop back out again 😉☂️🎶

With this sad news in mind I must thank everyone who have made a contribution to my vision in creating Umbrella A Ca****la. There are many to thank but I must especially thank the following.

First and foremost my mum, Kaz Jacks, my mum has ways been supportive of my wild ADHD impulsive projects and ideas 💡 and she was certainly very exceptionally supportive in this one! Thank you mum! 💕

Alec, from ACE Voices brought the musical magic to the group and orchestrated some fantastic sessions and shows and brought the best out of our members. Thank you for what you have brought to the group Alec and to Phionna McInnes who introduced us.

Lisa our secretary; was an awesome and proactive hooman, kept us all Informed and supported our group immensely.

Laura you wereACVO and Volunteer Aberdeen thank you for holding on in there and helping with the very first funding application and bringing your joy to choir!

To RGU and Professor Olivier who very kindly donated space and his piano for us to hold our sessions.

To ACVO and Volunteer Aberdeen who initially awarded the group funding. To the many who fundraised and supported our fundraising.

But most importantly thank you to the multiple members, you made my vision possible and brought your neurosparkles into the group!

Thank you all! I’ll treasure the memories we made together. Heres to the era we had and cheers to the new! All the best for 2026 I hope it is filled with lots of good health, wealth and happiness.

Au revoir 🙃

Lots of Love from
Chloe ☂️♾️💛

Studies exploring music and physiology have found that singing can dramatically increase levels of secretory immunoglobulin A (SIgA), a frontline immune antibody that protects the body’s airways and digestive tract. This antibody plays a crucial role in neutralizing pathogens before they enter deeper tissues.

The research shows that singing triggers a stronger immune response than simply listening to music or resting. Scientists believe this is because singing combines emotional expression, controlled breathing, and physical resonance, all of which influence immune-regulating hormones.

One key factor is stress reduction. When people sing, cortisol levels often drop, allowing immune function to rebound. Stress is known to suppress SIgA, so lowering it naturally boosts the body’s first line of defense.

Singing also activates the vagus nerve, which is essential for calming the nervous system and maintaining balance between stress and recovery states. A more regulated vagus response has been linked to stronger immunity and better overall health.

Researchers are now studying whether singing in groups—such as choirs—amplifies these benefits even further, thanks to synchronized breathing and emotional connection. Early findings suggest group singing may enhance both mood and immune resilience.

Singing with others can be more beneficial than singing solo. Here’s why: https://bbc.in/4opYGEQ

“Neurodivergent people are the ones with whom I have an instant connection. Their friendship is a joyous relief. I am free to stop masking, let my guard down, and be myself. I can be as weird as I want, and they are weird right back, and we celebrate our mutual weirdness. It is wonderful.”

An exploration of neurodivergent musicians and audiences experiences in live music settings encompassing sensory experiences, motivations and engagement, and reasonable adjustments.

The aim of this study is to gain insight into neurodivergent musicians and audiences experiences when in live music venues through mixed-methods enquiry. With community involvement, a pilot study was previously conducted to explore question and response clarity, effectiveness of questions, and testing accessible data collection strategies.
