~ New colours ~

Hello everyone! If you saw my story about trying a new colour palette - this is the finished painting! I'm trying to be a little bit less picky about the details of the pictures and rather let the colours speak for themselves.

Available to see in person during in my studio at , 7th - 15 September ✨

Bonus points to whoever can guess the inspiration for this one!

~ Throwback ~

Since I haven't posted anything on Instagram in a while, I'm sure the algorithm hates me now. 🥲

Here's a little throwback from 7 years ago when I first visited Dunnotar Castle in Stonehaven. I think I might turn this one into a painting.

~ Practising watercolours pt. 1~

A little watercolour forest made during Open Studios. I have to admit I struggle to let the paint do whatever it wants, I'm missing the precision of acrylic paint, and the option to redo small mistakes. However, it's nice to just go with the flow. Not entirely sure about the colour combination...

Open Studios are this weekend at ! I'm taking this opportunity to show this lovely photo by where she captured the moment I found my old Inktober sketches in my sketchbook ❤️ Ask to see them during Open Studios!

Also a little glimpse into what you'll see in my studio - nature, colours and Ghibli inspired creatures! My 'Czech Folktales' are still hanging on my wall so you'll have a chance to read about them if you haven't yet.

And here are the other creatives that you can also visit:

~ Summer walk in the forest ~

I finished this A5 painting of a forest path. No reference picture. I started with blobs of colour and then went where the brush took me. I also tried to incorporate the little knowledge of colour theory and tried to mix colours accordingly - I think it worked ?

I have another one that I'm painting the same way but it's nowhere near finished, yet.

My favourite part about this painting? It's the little flecks of light that you see in the sunshine in a forest! A true summer day.

Now off to get prepping for Open Studios!

SAVE THE DATE !

The time has come for another Open Studios Event! Come visit me and others at this April. As usual, the disciplines range from visual art through ceramics to textile artists, and this year, there are also some new faces!

You will see some paintings from last year since I didn't join the last Open Studios. I will also offer some new prints and original paintings as well as a massive sale of old art and slightly damaged prints at discounted prices.

There has been a change in my studio, too. I am now sharing a studio with Rachel who is a painter and she's joining the Spring Open Studios this year!

So save the date and come say hi in a couple of weeks 🙌

~ Get Lost (in the forest) ~

Happy Easter everyone 🐣

Here's the promised finished piece! Originally I only drew for an hour to see how far I'll get, and this finished piece took about 3 hours, plus minus a couple of minutes (I of course stopped timing it haha)

Open Studios are slowly approaching, so let me know if you'd like to see more of this style!

~ 'How long did it take you?' ~

People often ask me how long did this or that take to make. It honestly differs so much, and it depends on so many aspects such as materials, supplies, size, etc. Funnily enough, smaller pieces take generally longer than larger pieces.

I did an experiment today and gave myself an hour and see what I make with it. From an initial pencil sketch to a half finished inked sketch. This is the result!

On a different note, it's really nice to go back to black and white. I also realised that I'm pretty rusty in the black and white values and I make the sketch waaaay too busy for my liking 😅
